Puuka's take on Heroclix RPG

The idea of this is the allow You and 2-8 friends to run a campaigns which will allow you to take a base rookie figure and build it up to higher levels either by switching it out to the next point level of figure, or by adding feats to the figure. The cost of these upgrades will be based on the experienced earned throughout the campaigns.
It is recommended that you have your players start with a figure at 50 points. It all depends on how you want to start. (You may want to start at 100 points to allow more room for bigger campaigns. But set a lower limit on the starting figure. I could pick someone like R Hourman at 65 points, feat him up and then quickly upgrade him to his Vet at 100 and have a sidekick and a stable of lackeys by the third module) They can take the Rookie figure (Or Unique or LE if there is one that is less points than the Rookie.) Then they can add feats until it is at the 50 point mark. Players can only pick character that have an REV progression and use LE and Uniques if they are the same character.
Pick your adventure. I will be creating different adventures that you can run your players through based on the different official maps from Wizkids.
Experience and upgrading your characters.
As you play your characters and gain experience, you will be able to upgrade your figure. You gain experience by defeating foes and completing the tasks that are required in the adventure.
Each player gains 10% of each figure that the team KO's. At the end of each adventure. These XP get added to your Build total.
Ways to upgrade
Changing level. Character must upgrade to the next highest point figure before upgrading again. You can not go from Rookie-Vet with one upgrade. You must play the level between.
Feats. They can spend the XP on Feats. Between modules, they may reorganize their build
Lackeys. If your figure is at a Second level upgrade, it may take on lackeys. These are figures or BST that are 10 points or less.
Sidekicks/Partners. If your figure is at a third level upgrade, it may take on a sidekick. When building, you may add feats to this character as well. Sidekicks may never go above 50 points

I know this is really late (you posted this in '07!), but I really like the idea of campaigns and EXP points. I'm thinking of coming up with a scenario and posting it on my blog.
My idea is to start with a few hero and villain keywords. Maybe Avengers, SHIELD, Fantastic Four and Masters of Evil, Hydra, AIM on the villain side. Then, create a roster of possible figures to field during that campaign, similar to Activision's Ultimate Alliance. You can even come up with power combos that result from two allies being next to each other. This could be cool if executed correctly. |
