Non-specific ranting
I still love Heroclix, but . . .

I'm constantly having falling outs with Marvel's sets. Mutations & Monsters, for me at least (huge X-Men fan) wasn't really all that great. There were a lot of questionable choices made in character selection and gameplay mechanics.
Why did the original 5 members of the X-Men take up 4 slots in Mutations & Monsters, when none of them were duo figures? Oh yeah, one of them was missing. They should have taken up 3 at most. Two Duos and a Single (probably Iceman). Crisis had all 5 rookie Teen Titans though, with some actually being usefull AND they just about all had adult versions (or a sick LE). Adult versions for Cyclops and Jean Grey were relegated to "Age of Apocalypse". A pretty lame, all encompasing crossover from the 90s that didn't matter at all. Not to mention, that Cyclops is barely playable.
There were still other odd choices, when you think about important characters being tossed for unimportant ones (Pete Wisdom, Chamber). Both of whom weren't stellar or fun to play.
Event Dials are an awesome idea, and I loved them as soon as they were announced, but Crisis event dials though, blew the convoluted M&M dials out of the water. They were much more playable and inviting than the complicated ones found in M&M.
Which brings us to Secret Invasion. Yes, I'm biased towards the sets. Skrulls, in games, in comics, in life are boring. Whenever I see a Skrull team fielded I know two things imediately. 1) I'm going to win. 2) I'm going to have absolutely no fun doing it. In a 50 minutes round goes by and I'm pulling out 50 - 70 points and my opponent pulls less . . . that means something went wrong. That meant my oppinent used skrulls.
More Super-Skrulls is . . . I dunno. They aren't recognizable characters. Yes, we saw them appear in the comic, but who are they? Give them a year of appearences, build their character, get back to me. Also, on the realms, it's just annoying. "Too many SPs, too many SPs", which then turns to the same people crying, "No SPs?? And their UNIQUE?? That's dumb.". Meanwhile, they've been unique in the comics from what I understand. Sure, there are several X-Men SS guys, but one had Angel's feathers, the other had Archangels feathers. Boom. Unique.
Also, I'm just not thrilled by greater Marvel. I was excited to be getting the ORIGINAL Spider-Slayer and Hammerhead. More to the ranks of Sinister Syndicate! . . .What? They changed the rules on the SinSyn? What do you mean Spider-Slayer can only give out its' 8 Attack and not borrow new Dr. Doom's 11. At least Grey Gargoyle's . . . nah, not very useful either.
Don't get me wrong either. Iron Man, Namor & Punisher are all amazing, but they aren't people I'm in love with. Yes, I'll gladly take their badass figures/dials, but throw me a Cyclops. (Also, as a huge X-fan, the lack of any type of Avengers character in M&M bothered me. Don't exclude fans . . . but I guess they needed to include zombies).
I'm still excited for the next set, even though I'm at this point looking forward to the FF the most (which now counts as SI, but it's a Starter of course), but I find myself looking forward to the next DC set and even the next Marvel set, which I imagine would have an amazing Thor and Beta-Ray Bill.
