Random Ramblings of a Pagan Pirate
They Shouldn't Let Me Have One Of These

I'm serious.
They shouldn't.
Not on here anyway. The only one I ever actually blog on is on MySpace. It's been almost a full calendar year since I've written in this one. Just four days short. Geeze. Now I'm only rambling because its early, I have school early, and I have nothing great to say. Haha. Well, thirteen days after my last post *where I had gotten dragged around by beavers in a dream - go read... but after this one* I got a job at a beauty supply store - great place for a future game warden/conservation officer let me tell ya. The job now schedules me nights, which is ok since I hate mornings, not-ok since it takes away Honey-time. I used to go play Clix with him because it made him happy, now I can't because of work, and I feel bad because he brings them to my house when I don't feel like playing because I either don't want to stay there or I'd rather play Guitar Hero *which I've been neglecting lately *. We used to see each other daily, now its knocked down to twice a week *Saturday and Sunday* for about 4 or 5 hours, at night. What can you do at that time besides see a movie or go out to dinner? He doesn't club, he prefers to stay out of trouble *Which is a good thing, that in turn keeps me out of trouble and keeps my record clean. Most of my friends would say 'hey lets go!' then sit in the cell next to me saying 'hell we messed up, but that was ####ing awesome!!'* and going to performances, exhibits, and the like tends to get expensive. Hell, gas alone is getting expensive so I can't just say "Hey lets go on a drive, see where we end up" like Ma and I used to do. I'd feel bad. 18$ for the monotonous movie tickets or 50$ and up for gas? Hmm, I think I'll go for monotony on this one. Sad, because that's what I usually try to avoid.
Monotony kills and should be avoided. We aren't droids, meant to only be educated, work, and raise families. The world is too big for that. There’s too much to see, too many things to experience. There are too many cultures to immerse yourself in. There are too many different landscapes, animals, plants, bodies of water, and the like to observe. There are too many different types of music to enjoy and get lost in. Why would someone want to live the 9 to 5, robotic life – traffic and road rage and controlling bosses – the typical get up/go to work/come home/make dinner/go to bed/do it all again?? I never understood it. I’m young. I want to see the world while I still can, and not wait the 50 years before retirement to do it. I want to road trip before gas hits 10$ a gallon. I consider myself an educated person, but that’s books and such. I want to be educated in the ways of the world. I want to lose myself in some foreign culture and landscape – to look around and not see only tall buildings; over populated cities filled with people who look at the woods or a field and take them for granted, thinking “buy, buy, buy, build, build, build, sell, sell, sell”. Places where my uncle and great-uncles used to hunt are now developed. Swamps and marsh areas are drained and developed, and the next year after heavy rains and melted snow, the owners of the buildings are wondering why their cement sidewalks are shifting and lifting, and sometimes even the building itself is shifting and sagging years before it was expected to. Wetlands were created to be just that and no amount of draining or developing will keep them from being what they were created to be. That’s the reason why so many places flood – you drained and built over a natural reservoir.
But money is the mindset nowadays I guess. The cost of living is steadily rising, yet wages aren’t rising to follow suit. Food, milk, and everyday items are all going up in cost, and very few understand that it’s all because of gas prices. I tried to explain it to a man who came into the store a few weeks ago, when he wondered why his hair dye went up in cost. When I simply replied ‘gas prices’, he laughed at me, quite hard actually. “Why would gas have anything to do with my dye?” he wondered. “It doesn’t just sprout little cardboard wings and fly here, sir. Everything has to get shipped from its manufacturer by truck or plane, and those things run on gas. Truckers need to pay for gas, so the shipping companies need to pay them more, and in order to afford that, they need to charge manufacturers more to ship their products, and in order to afford that the manufacturers charge you more for the product. It’s quite the vicious cycle.” I believe he understood after that, because he stopped laughing, and agreed with me.
Anyway, back to my theory on monotony. We have adrenal glands for a reason - to release adrenaline. In my opinion, Darwinism and natural selection will take over and the adrenal glands will just go away, because they will no longer be needed because nothing is truly exciting anymore. There’s really nothing around to give that adrenaline rush.
It’s sad, even children even have set schedules - school, afterschool sports/activities/jobs, homework, dinner, bed. Some kids have to go to a different parent or daycare on weekends, summer school ‘to keep them out of trouble’ *yeah right, some parents just don’t want to parent nowadays {cough*Pirate’s cousin*cough}*, and some kids even have religion classes on weekends. What happened to going outside and playing? Where did the days of playing with friends at the park go? I used to love being able to go outside, down the street to play with the boys, or they came up to my house to get me. Playgrounds used to be filled; you had to fight for a place on the swing set. Child obesity has risen, because no one has the energy to go outside anymore – they’re so overworked during the week, some kids would rather sit on the couch all weekend and play video games or watch T.V.
Also, no one really reads anymore. We need another J. K. Rowling to come around – I don’t give a damn how bad my Honey hates Harry Potter and all things associated with him, Ms. Rowling and those books got so many kids of all ages reading again. I know she sparked my interest in reading again. There are no true writers for young adults or kids, they’re all for infants or adult readers – either those huge, thick cardboard things with maybe five words per page, or long, extensive romance novels. What happened to “The Boxcar Children” and the Berenstein Bears? Where are Karen Hesse and “Out Of The Dust”? How many kids today can tell you what “Where the Red Fern Grows” is about, and why/when the red ferns started growing where they did? What happened to R. L. Stein and Goosebumps?
There are even very few really interesting and enjoyable comic books out. They’re all being re-written and whatnot. Spider-Man simply forgot that he was married and Mary Jane simply vanished? What? This is the reason why I haven’t bothered to get a comic book in so long. They’re becoming… Lame, for lack of a better word. Even some Manga books are stupid. If anyone has picked up a truly entertaining book of Manga lately, let me know what title to look for.
It’s now about an hour and page and a half later. I have to get some sleep for Psychology tomorrow. Maybe I’ll learn something that’ll spark an interesting blog about Sigmund Freud and his cocaine addiction. Ha. Goodnight all. I’ll update again in another year or so.
Unless I get dragged off by beavers or something again, anyway… If I dream of something interesting, I’ll for sure let you know.
If anything, you can always check my MySpace to see if I wrote anything interesting in there at all, and feel free to add me. Just be sure to write something like "from HCRealms" in the little message box on the request form.
