*sigh*
So, I'm going to ramble (and I will do it here where no one will ever know about it. Woohoo)...
NEW WARRIORS VOLUME 4
I enjoy this book, but I have some issues with it... like the fact that so far all of our core cast is made up of ex-X-Men. Well, ex-X-students, but still.
Night Thrasher II: Unknown
Ripcord: Unknown
Wondra: Jubilee
Decibel: Chamber
Longstrike: Tattoo
Phaser: Radian
Skybolt: Unknown
Tempest: Angel (New X-Men/Morrison era)
Blackwing: Beak
3 left... and so far, aside from NT being a snappy dresser, we have no connection whatsoever to the previous 3 incarnations of the team.
AVENGERS INITIATIVE
The best NW book on teh market isn't even ABOUT the Warriors. Go figure. While I dislike that this book has shoehorned Ultra-Girl and Slapstick onto the team (their membership always being highly suspect by core book fans) I have enjoyed the copious amount of screen time that Vance and Elvin have bene getting. The recent revelations about Slapstick's issues and the fling between Vance and Suzanne (it's just a fling I tell you, JUST A FLING! Angelica is coming back!) have been very intriguing.
THUNDERBOLTS
Only NW-related for Penance's supposed origin as Speedball. *lame* I am enjoying the book, but it is tangental to my NW-centric living in the extreme.
NOVA VOLUME 5
An always good read that makes me believe Rich both has a history with the Warriors and has moved on in a seemingly organic way. This coupled with Avengers Initiative is enough to make me believe that there are TALENTED creative teams out there who show repsect to teh stories that have come before their own.
(And yes, I know its only Nova Volume 5 if we disregard some title irregularities among previous series and mini-series... get over it!)
Back around to the top again...
NEW WARRIORS VOLUME 4
Is a great book that is only loosely connected to my beloved Warriors. Upcoming issues promise an appearance by an old NW villain that I look forward to seeing... but the innane pacing is killing me right now. If there's not some quality pacing (and high-quality revelation) in issue 6 I will be really put out. I want to care about these characters, but the allocation of screen time is not giving me the opportunity to do so.
Rant Out
