Thought I'd give this journal thing a try.
So I recently played a game with a friend and I was inspired to create my own Thunderbolts team out of mostly stand-ins as the only current member out there is Blizzard.
We played a 500 point game and this is what I came out with.
V- Blizzard
E- Giant Man (Atlas)
R- Iron Man (Mach IV/Beetle)
E- Impulse (Speed Demon)
V- Polaris (Songbird) w/ Stunning Blow
V- Arclite (Joystick)
Other Feats/BFC: Rip it Up. White Noise.
All this added up to about 505 points I think. My friends and I play very casual and usually allow a good amount of leeway in points, especially if it means fielding a theme team.
This was my friend's team.
E- Firelord
V- Vertigo
Promo- Hulk (Gamma)
V- Punisher
E- Wolverine (IC)
R- Spider Man (IC)
V- Dr. Strange
Feats/BFC: None
The game was fun to play, though in all honesty we were both kinda rusty from having not played in a while.
All in all I think my Thunderbolts did well. The hardest thing in my mind was getting stand-ins for Songbird and Joystick.
Songbird ended up a choice between three vets. Polaris, Marvel Girl and Jade. In the end Polaris' high base damage and force blast won out. FB did come in handy for getting Hulk out of my face.
For Joystick I had originally been thinking about using vet Puck. I love charge and Pucks dial is very nice, but switched to Arclite at the last minute for Quake and CCE, and since both are the same point value it didn't seem like I was losing anything.
During play Iron Man was the most useless fig. But he's the only guy in a suit of armor I have and did have all the things I wanted, just not the AV I needed.
The Stars were Blizzard for some timely barrier and have the wonderful 11 AV that took down Firelord to a manageable level. Giant Man also gets praise for tying up Punisher and Wolverine for just about the whole game, and there's nothing like reminding someone that his Ultimates TA isn't useless when he throws a light object at a Punisher skulking in the bushes.
It was a fun game and in my friend's defense he did roll pretty poorly for most of it. Better luck next time bud.
