There's a question that has been bothering me for a while.
According to the Smoke Cloud rule: "Generate up to 6 hindering markers in distinct squares within range, each adjacent to at least one other[...]"
That last sentence is the one that I don't get completely, because recently I tried to use Smoke Cloud, and placed 2 hindering marker adjacent to each other, then other 2 that were not adjacent to first couple... I intended to do something like this:
My opponent and a friend told me I cannot do that, apparently I was supposed to place the marker one by one, each adjacent to the next one, and well first: There's no specification of placing markers one by one (of course you end up doing it, but nothing says you "have to do it" one by one) and second: to me "adjacent to at least one other" and "adjacent to the next one" are different things.
Am I wrong? What am I missing?
Thanks!
Jema
PS: I posted this in other section it doesn't belong to, just in case you see it somewhere else, I made that mistake
SMOKE CLOUD POWER: Minimum range value 4. Generate up to 6 hindering markers in distinct squares within range, each adjacent to at least one other, and at least one marker must be within line of fire. Opposing characters occupying one or more of these markers modify attack -1. At the beginning of your next turn, (even if this is lost) remove them.
On of the smoke cloudes needs to be with range and LoF (this usually is the first one you place).
Which means, yeah you place them one by one, which in addition mean each has to be adjacent to the last one.
The at least one is there so you can place a marker that adjacent to more the one (like boxing in one square with 4 smoke clouds).
The current wording of Smoke Cloud is not written properly. This has come up before (like over a year ago), and WKs is aware. They've yet to actually fix it, but they have ruled that all the placed markers need to be contiguous.
Exactly - it's written poorly. It implies that you place the markers one at a time.
This then requires you to have 1 within the range of the figure. It also then requires them to all be contiguous.
All markers have to be within range. Just one has to be within line of fire though.
I don't Think you need to Place each marker adjacent to the last one placed though - if line of fire is restricted I don't see why you couldn't start in the middle of a smoke cloud and Place markers on both sides of the starting markers. You do need to Place them one at a time so the OP' suggestion is not legal but there are some nasty tricks you can pull with the intended interpretation.

Well I'm glad you corrected me - because I've been playing wrong apparently!

This is correct. If you wanted to, you could make a Y shape where they go in 3 different directions. The only requirement is that they be touching each other, all within range, and at least 1 within LOF.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????

I actually tried to look for this in the WizKids forum but didn't find anything
