Like the character and a pretty good representation. The giant reach of 3 and traited shape change is a big plus. Zeta should be listed Indom and hopefully this will be corrected.
Disable your weaponry is a good attempt at comic accuracy but could offer a little more incentive to use. Will play with Batman Beyond and Robot teams.
Wow. We're finally here. A character who's half a decade old with a show that's all been forgotten, and probably never had any merchandise, and with no comic continuation like Terry had: I had no reason to expect this character would ever remotely be considered; and yet: here I am.
What a glorious day it was when I heard!
So what did they miss? What did they do right?
Well, the obvious is that he has his arm laser in use but no range. Given the way he plays this isn't upsetting, though...
Obviously this did take inspiration from the Zeta Project show as some of his abilities were only shown there and never Batman Beyond. The extending arms, for one. They could stretch really long, but G R: 3 is fine as he never used his strech for the offensive purposes.
Considering his lack of offensive nature, though, it is strange he does have the abilities he does, but it is clix, so I'm not shaken about it. Close Combat Expert is a bit of a stretch even when considering his full potential. Maybe in it's own way that can be considered his laser. It didn't have high range anyway. (He used it on terrain, though.)
Leap/Climb, Regen, all good. The finger hooks depicted by blades I forgot about, he did use those to climb. I wouldn't exactly represent those, though. To me, that blades power represents the huge FLIPPIN' saw blades he could create in his arms. Serious, those would be deadly. He did have problems recovering from fatal blows, so regen would be a little more accurate mid dial, but from game play perspective I'm glad it's there.
And then there's the shape change. It probably would've been better as a disguise token deal similar to Supes/WW Lex maybe. Once he was hit bad enough he had problems image shifting. I'm surprised that they made it so good honestly, but it is cool the way they did.
I think what's really missing is the fact that he was always on the run and dodging weapons fire. Maybe super senses or an 18 defense would be appropriate at the cost of shape change later on. Still; playing this guy he's solid on every click (I got too do it in sealed, too! happy days!), and I had a good time with that. It's nice to play a figure that you don't have to really worry about if you missed that opening attack, or if you got hit first.
So I think he works well to potentially tie up/pester and can land a good hit when hit. I'm gonna try a spy team with him soon and Tailia's prob should most definitely help.
As someone who finds it a crime the show got canned with no hopes of coming back, this is wonderful to me and the dial does not disappoint.:)
Yeah, this guy's been my sleeper hit of the set. I'm playing him on Future keyword teams (no Gotham City keyword? Or a clause of his Infiltration Unit trait that keeps him from breaking theme? Aww) and opponents overlook him in favor of flashy power-common Batman Beyond at their cost.
Zeta's straight down the line with how the designers tend to do robots of his type (c.f. AOU Machine Man or AOU (Movie) Vision)--the unchanging stats are a giveaway. His debuff for adjacency combos very well with his Giant Reach: he can tie up one group of characters while attacking another. Haven't used his "Disable Your Weaponry" power yet; I've typically needed that third point of damage to crack tough reducers.
All in all, I agree that dial-wise he's probably better in some ways and not as good in others versus what would be more series-accurate (he doesn't generate a Ro bystander, for one). But I'm pleased with him.
