Question The Liar Ring and range question

The Liar Ring and range question

Just procured “The Liar” ring in trade and had a question regarding it's wording...

So any figure with Mind Control, Outwit or Perplex, their new minimum range is 10. It seems obvious replace/modify, but is there anything prohibiting Shield pumping or perplexing that range to 13?

Dream BIG, but keep the small dreams around just in case...

It says the minimum range is now ten so yeah, I see no reason why that shouldn't work

No, because the range from the Liar Ring is not a replacement:

If an effect says that a value (typically a combat value) has a “minimum” value and the result of calculating that value would be less, use that minimum value instead. If an effect says that a value has a “maximum” value and the result of calculating that value would be greater, use that maximum value instead. In both cases, all replacements, modifiers, and increases/decreases continue to apply, and only the final result of the calculation is changed.

Correct. The Liar ring is asking, "is this total 10 or more?" and making it 10 if the answer is "no." So a character with 6 range with +3 applied is 9, which is less than 10, so it would become 10.

I just want to confirm. Had someone challenge this yesterday...

The liar ring gives you mind control, correct? That's why it says "Mind Control." as a separate statement right? Maybe I just had too much coffee and lack of sleep...lol

Yes, exactly. It grants Mind Control, plus an extra benefit to anyone using Mind Control, Perplex, or Outwit.
