Does a crit miss KO the Pog or can you still roll the D6 and do damage to Pogg Ur-Pogg instead?

Pogg Ur-Pogg's Armored Pog reads:
I PRAY YOU WAIT JUST A MOMENT: Armored Pogg Ur-Pogg can't be chosen for Mastermind. // After the resolution of any action, if no friendly character named Pogg Ur-Pogg is on the map, KO Armored Pogg Ur-Pogg. // When Armored Pogg Ur-Pogg would take damage, you may instead roll a d6.
*1-3: Deal Pogg Ur-Pogg 1 unavoidable damage.
*4-6: Deal Pogg Ur-Pogg 2 unavoidable damage. Protected: Pulse Wave.

Unavoidable damage is unavoidable.
12.4c of the comprehensive rulebook leads me to believe the bystander takes the damage.
EDIT: to clarify, a critical miss deals one unavoidable damage to the attacker. For precedence title Wonder Woman on click 11 does not take damage as part of her special but a critical miss will damage and KO her because unavoidable damage is unavoidable.
