Let this sink in for a moment. It has been over twenty years since these two deigned to interact with each other. And quite possibly even longer since the comics they co-published have been reprinted if they’ve ever been reprinted.
And here. They. Are. This honestly might be the most important act of comics preservation we’ve seen in a very, very long time and can put these very rare stories into readers’ hands for the first time ever.
ASK ME ONCE I’LL ANSWER TWICE JUST WHAT I KNOW I’LL TELL BECAUSE I WANNA!
SOUND DEVICE AND LOTS OF ICE I'LL SPELL MY NAME OUT LOUD BECAUSE I WANNA!
I really don’t see that happening. I think WB is going to want to hold on to any IP it can, and DC, for all its struggles lately, is still big money.
That and I don’t see Disney looking to acquire for a good while.
But I do see this as a water-testing measure as much as a preservation measure. If this succeeds, which feels very likely, could we see new crossovers? Captain Marvel meets Wonder Woman? Jamie Reyes meets Kamala Khan? Maybe publish obnoxiousness in printed form by having Deadpool meet Harley Quinn?
It’s exciting to see that they might finally be realizing that crossing over again could be great for both of them.

I do agree that Disney likely isn’t in the mood to acquire in a hurry.
That said, Disney’s market cap is $202 billion right now. And trending up.
WB’s is $22.6 billion, tending down, and has dropped by nearly 40% in the last 12 months. They’re finishing movies and shelving them because it's more profitable to do that than release them thanks to some arcane tax laws.
Disney could get snippy and acquire them on a whim, bump the prices for their parks and cruises by 10%, burp and wipe their jowls, and be done.
I'm a Disney fan, too. I think the House of M(ouse) generally puts out items of superior quality on all fronts, not just MCU v DCU. But I don't want them to acquire DC/WB at large.
As long as there are two main publishing houses, quality should tend to improve for the consumer. That competition, while it might not drive price down, should still drive quality up. Wrestling was better during the Monday Night Wars, and it's better now with AEW giving the Fed something to think about. Xbox and Playstation turned out better products when they were trying to one-up each other (note-this does not factor in the reality that we're probably going to be in tomorrow, when Xbox is expected to basically cede the console war).
Plus, I'd hate to see someone try to merge the worlds. I don't want to read a comic where it somehow takes the JLA, Avengers, X-Men, and Titans to save the day. That's too much.

Yeah, I hear you that WB is probably in the worst shape of any of the major entertainment companies, but I think that's probably all the more reason to hang on to anything that will make them money.
I mean, sure, most of DC isn't doing great for them, but Batman alone is still supremely valuable and is probably worth keeping DC in and of himself. I think WB's doing poorly enough that at this point, they're gonna hang onto whatever they can.

They were recently in talks to buy Paramount Studios, so that puts a damper on the idea they're in selling mode.
And that's why I put in that "if" caveat. I covered my bases, dude.
True that.
The real question is why was it reported as if DC was the only one doing the republishing when Marvel co-owns the Amalgam Universe. Of course Marvel is in on it.
