Attacking or Moving across Diagonal Transition Squares?
Seeking confirmation here. Historically, players could move or make close attacks across adjacent transition marker squares, such as, say, you are on a 1x2 elevated area with transition points on all edges, and you want to move or attack one square diagonally down or up stairs.
Rule 16.7C in the current comprehensive rules appears to prohibit this, specifying players must use the same transition marker points that form a diamond.
Is this correct? When did this change?
(Currently on mobile and unable to paste text from comp. rules.)
16.7c Transition Squares Along an Elevated Terrain Boundary and Adjacency
Characters may make close attacks targeting characters that occupy the square that
borders the same transition square they occupy (i.e.: the two triangles of the transition
squares form a diamond shape).
Characters may ONLY make close attacks targeting characters in the same set of
transitions squares, NOT to squares that are on the other side of the elevated terrain
boundary at a diagonal to the square they occupy.
Though characters may make close attacks across transition squares, squares at different
elevation levels are not adjacent for any other game effects.
I'm guessing they just ruled on it as of 09/25/24
Dream BIG, but keep the small dreams around just in case...
