That means that the LE's (tourney prizes etc etc) are IDENTICAL in all respects to the Super-Rares, appart from the basering colour and the colour of the print ???
Is this true ???
If so, that is just bizare !
Why would even a completest (eg me) bother ? I already (assumedly) have the sculpt. Then, if I get the LE version, I have the stats / base. Either way, I have both figures already, in all probability, before I am likely to pull a Super Rare. If I did (rather like the masterpiece figs) that would make it's only use to be for trading for Uniques or high spec LE's that I didn't have yet...
I just don't get it, from either a sales, marketing, or gaming perspective...an Ultra Rare should, at the very least, have different sculpts, paint jobs, or stats...
Seriously, could someone confirm that the LE's (tourney prizes etc etc) are IDENTICAL in all respects to the Super-Rares, appart from the basering colour and the colour of the print ???
I still can't quite believe that that's all this is...

I remember back in the early 90's, with a super cool card set, Marvel Metal being released. I bought into the trading card craze, wanting all of the cards, and I mean ALL of the cards. In the set were cards called "Metal Flashers" (I think). They were chase cards of various characters with comical tidbits on the back of the card. There was also an alternate "Gold Flasher" of each of these cards that was devoid of the comical tidbits. Same card, just done in Gold and regarded as being rarer than the silver cards. I look back and think of how stupid I was as a child.
That's the way I understood it. LEs are exactly equal to the Super-Rares except for distinguishing colored paint. Now why would a completest (like me) want both of them? I ask myself the same thing every day and I always come up with the same answer. Because the demons in my head tell me to. Here's to much collecting ahead!
I'm really impressed to see so much negative feelings toward this.
I know that everything Wizkids makes (and even everything that they don't make) is always the point to numerous whinnings, but on this one I'm really surprised.
It seems like nobody wants some free LE's and prefers to have more duplicates of REVs in their boosters. It seems like everyone is happy to have to buy for "less than $20 each" (but I will add to this sentence : "more than 10$ each too") a lot of figures each time a set is done, figures that they cannot obtain in the boosters they bought.
It seems like there's not so many people who cannot go to a lot of tourneys and/or who doesn't win a good quantity of the prizes (that's weird because with only two prizes per tourney, logically this means there's a lot more players than possible prizes, so how can every Heroclix player can win nearly all the LE's of a given set ?).
It seems like a vast majority of people buying Heroclix are die-hard collectors who want every produced figure, even the oens who are the same except for the color on their dials.
I think that's only because the vast majority of people who buy Heroclix aren't active on the forums.
This vast majority of players and collectors cannot go to 2-3 tourneys per week to have a chance to get a reasonable amount of LE's, and they are forced to acquire the figures they want by buying them at outrageous (yes that's the term for some plastic figures of this size) prices on the secondary market. Even if they are occasionnal players, that doesn't mean they don't buy a lot of boosters.
The fact that they don't go to tournaments (be it their choice or because they can't) shouldn't prevent them to have some figures of the game they like if they don't want or can't pay said outageous prices.
From my point of view the LE's figures are cool because they are free figures distributed by Wizkids at tournaments, but the system itself is quite unfair, because for a lot of people these figures are impossible to get without using the secondary market.
For the Unique figures, you can have them by buying boosters, and there's 12 (13 with giant figures) of them per set. For the LE's, you cannot find them in boosters, and there's 20 of them per set ! So it's really unfair for all the players/collectors who cannot go to many tourneys.
So when Wizkids decides to give us, freely (i.e without any additionnal cost) some LE's in our boosters, without retiring any of the Uniques we can get, that's really good !
It should have been this way since the beginning ! That's not fair that some people, who bought as many boosters and products as the others, cannot have a chance to get all the figures from the game they like, without having to spend lot of money on the secondary market (in addition to the money spend on the boosters) !
That's my case. Come where I live and you'll see how hard it is to even go to a tournament ! So for me, it's impossible to have any LE's, except by trading for them. This makes me bitter because I buy a lot of Wizkids products, from all their Heroclix line, but they make figures for this game (that I really enjoy), that I cannot have ! And I can't spend "less than $20" on eahc of the 20 LE's per set (not coutning the fact that outside the US, the LE's prices are way higher ).
I'm always a nice and cool guy, but this time it's too much for me. Wizkids gives us something really good, and a lot of people aren't satisfied... That make me really upset to see this.
I'm the unconditional militant for the making of Porcupine, Man-elephant and Armadillo as clix !

I can't reach tournies ONE time a week (much less three), and I wouldn't win if I did! I play for fun, but wouldn't mind being able to get some special figs.

This is one of the BEST things that has happened to Heroclix in a while...I bash and talk smack on several subjects, ie Galactus...But this was an excellent step forward....Thanks Wizkids!!!
Originally posted by HavokTX Bluebeard, I couldn't agree more. I suffered from the same thing...I had to have it all. But I sort of broke the cycle. I sold all my stuff on ebay, keeping only what I play with (or like). So now I play, buy at sealed tournies only (well, mostly) and have been totally enjoying myself.
I personally felt really depressed at looking at my growing number of "Figures I will never EVER" play. It is hard to worry about a collecting bug when the bulk of your collection is gone.
As to LE's in boosters. I think it is great. It will be harder for a certain HCRealmer I know to complain about his poor luck at pulling anything remotely unique!
Besides nothing beats the feeling of pulling a unique. It is addictive.....Plastic Crack indeed.
I had the same problem...I recently unloaded most all my LE's also...now a weight has been lifted...I kept only the pieces I really liked and will only collect those I will use in the future....
And I'll say this again: there is far more to HeroClix than the tourney scene.
I agree completely...My favorite games are Friendly games between friends and my friends and I have not done it near enough lately...
The venue has had a few fun events here lately with a cool Halloween Event on the horizon...but I still enjoy games between friends and over Pizza a lot more!!!
I like this move because it gives the kids at my venue (who rarely win tournies, no matter what the scenario) an extra chance to get some more LEs.
For the record, my venue has the same 4-5 players show up every event, and all of them play for fun. Sure, one person plays Thor and a hooker all the time, but it's a kid who's still learning the ropes...
