The other night I was using Doc Sampson (V) and he was using his charge ability. He based a stealthed Gambit (using an object for stealth) and IceMan who was right next to him.
I perplexed up Doc's damage from 4 to 5 (with his own Perplex power) and I grabbed the object that Gambit was using as hindering terrain and used it to attack IceMan. I was going to perplex Doc's damage up one more (using Venom (who is really a tough piece) but my opponent said that if I did so I would be violating the rule of 3. He said the 1 pt of damage by Perplex plus the 2 pts of damage from the heavy object would be 3.
I thought that objects were seperate from the rule of 3.
Please clarify.
(Side note: Needed a 5 to hit IceMan for 7 damage and ended up rolling a 4.....now that is what you call bad luck!) Fortunately I still ended up kicking his butt......TaskMaster is an awesome figure! Blades/Claws with an 11 attack....this is huge!
You are correct. Essentially, the heavy object damage is added to "damage dealt", not the Damage Value on the dial. Perplex, meanwhile, increases the printed Damage value. So, you can only increase the printed value by 3, but then, after the attack is made and damage dealt is figured, add the extra damage from the heavy object.

First normalview is correct. Objects add to damage dealt which does not fall under the rule of 3.
Second, I hope that was not in one move. You cannot charge and grab an object from under someone. Your movement stops as soon as you enter the adjacent square. So you could not grab the object because your movement stopped. If you were already adjacent to both figures you would have to roll a breakaway to grab the oject. It requires a move action to grab an object so you would have had to breakaway for the move action.

That is nothing. I had Doc Samson in a mixed tournament once and I perplexed his damage to 5 charged picking up the lamppost to smack Superman (w/Imp outwitted and 1 token already). That would have been 8 clicks if I had not rolled a crit miss.
The only way you can grab an object in the same square as an opposing fig in one action is to have Superstrength and Phasing (or SS TA), HSS, Leap/Climb, or a be a flier.

Or, have charge and superstrength, be adjacent at the start of the round, and roll breakaway. Then you would be able to pick up the object under them and charge.
