ok, I was playing this weekend and I was using V Hawkeye with trick shot and I want to make sure I was following the rules, because my friends weren't very happy with me


Ok, here is what I was doing

I had Hawkeye surrounded by V Vertigo, V U-Men, V Sentinel Trooper, and R Domino.

I would perplex Hawkeye's damage up to 4 with Vertigo, then I would use the Trooper's shield team ability to raise his damage another +1 to 5, then I would make a ranged combat attack using RCE which would bring his damage up to 7. Since the U-men was adjacent to him, he would use enhancement and would bring Hawkeye's damage to 8. Since he had trick shot he would shoot from the middle of everyone.


Was I doing anything wrong here??

yes... the rule of 3 caps his damage at 6. (RCE adds 2 to his damage value and you could only add one more via enhancement, SHIELD, or perplex).

ok..thanks..for some reason I had gotten it into my mind that the rule of 3 didn't apply to damage...dunno where I got that from..thanks for the response.

Does the rule of 3 also apply to the +2 added by holding an object when making a close combat action?

Actually I'm assuming you were using CT hawkeye, in which case your damage peaks out at 4 with the rule of 3.. RCE adds 2 to the rule of 3.

The added damage from an object isn't capped by the rule of three. The damage is capped however when you add perplex to CCE.. Since CCE adds 2 to the damage of a Close combat attack, you can only perplex up 1.

MeatLoafX and DemonRS are 100% correct, i just want to elaborate on how objects and the rule of 3 interact.

the rule of 3 limits the damage value of a figure, but objects add to the damage dealt, and therefore skirt the issue.

ok..thanks again for the replies. I was using Ultimate Hawkeye btw...his damage is 3 naturally, so it would cap out at 6.
