Okay, I finally picked this book up, and I have mixed reviews. I got it for three reasons: I like the Ultimate books so far, I like Ultimate Tony Stark, and I love, LOVE, Orson Scot Card. Mr. Card has writted everthig, from his Military/Sci-fi Ender series to books about the women of Genisis. SO I read the book.
This is what I thought about it:
Honestly, I liked it. I wasn't amazed and I didn't fall in love, but it wasn't a bore either. Anthony Stark is making bio-armor. Cool. The sience behind it actually makes sense, as Card often writes so. He needs a way to regenerate skin, because the virus that makes the armor eats skin. So he hires this scientist to help him out. Eventually they fall in love. This was my first problem. The love between them makes sense, but happens in two pages. WHat? When did they decide they even liked each other? ANyway, Stark's former wife, a golddigger, plots with Stark's buisness rival to take over Stark Defense Corp or whatever the company is called. Stark's new wife catches a virus while she's pregnant. The story is interesting, and I'll buy the next issue, but I have one observations. The situation behind Tony is that the virus his mother has, combined with the intellect of his parents, caused tamperong in his genetics. He will be unuasally smart but suffer from burning all over his skin. Hm. The gift of great intellect at a dire cost, through genetic tampering? Where have I heard this number before?
ENDER'S SHADOW!
The main character of this excellent book is a kid named Bean with a similar affliction. Written by Mr. Orson Scott Card. I don't think this is neccessary a bad thing mind you, just an observation.
