Dude, if your going to use 6 of the same figure you automatically give up your right to complain about anyone's team.
Really? Because last time I looked, no one else was playing that type of team. It takes much more creativity than playing a variation of the same team over and over again.
I don't have problems with tactics/strategy/etc. - just a problem with a lack of creativity. To play the teams that sundevil and Superfro played - that's creative and interesting and ultimately, good for the game.

I don't think either of those team types take any "creativity" to make or use. Creativity, is being able to make a different team for every tourney that you play in using different pieces and different power types. It's making a balanced team that can handle many different situations, not exploiting a single power (Stealth/Willpower/Outwit/Perplex/Prob. C./HSS) or using "questionally pointed" characters with nothing but Medics to back them up.
My main point is, if you're going to use 6 of the same character (which I do consider cheese), then don't gripe about someone elses cheese with your next breath.
On the other hand, I AM all for more creativity. I really don't play the same team every week. In fact, I made a challenge (with myself) to never use the same character two weeks in a row. I'm having a lot more fun doing that than I ever could using the same old-same old. Not saying everyone should do it, but it is a lot of fun. It will do one thing for you...you'll know every click in the game.

So this team has NO TK, Outwit, perplex, etc. It doesn't conform to what you would consider a "normal" team. Still, it WON. That takes one HELL of a lot of skill, my friend. This team took down every type of team and it was nothing anyone had seen before. I consider that not only creative, but a master work of skill on the part of the player.
In any event, opinions will differ. I do ask that you respect the player and the team, though. Like it or not, a team without TK/Outwit/Perplex won a regional tournament. To me, that speaks volumes.

So this is my question. I know flying figures cannot be carried by flying figures. Also, Giant characters cannot be TKed. What about flying chracters, can they be TKed? For example, I use Jean Grey to TK Ultimate Thor so he can use RS and attack. Can it be done? Ive always played with the assumption only non-flying characters can be TKed. Thanks
Hey good review azs, but I must say for most of the review you pointed out his negatives and described why you shouldn't use him. I want to see a review that says why he's good. Just my 2 cents....
I just have to kvetch about Ares today. I played him, and he went 3 for 3. I went 1-2.
Scenario - 400 points, 6 figures, number them 1-6. At the start of turn 4, roll one six sided die. Whatever you roll is the number of the fig that becomes a traitor and joins your team from the opponent's team.
I tried to play 'hedge the bets.' Played Ares + Fortitude, then 97 points of Intergang Agents and one R Intergang Medic.
Ares turned traitor in two of the three games.
The only click of damage he ever took was when he pushed to finish off the opposing team at the end of the first game.
I did manage to kill KC GL, though, so that makes the first time a moral victory.
I played Ares in a 1000 point event yesterday. As Galactus and Dark Phoenix were expected, I played a Mystics team: Ares, The Demon, Circe, Obsidian, Mordru, Trigon's Daughter and Shade. Ares drew the fire of Galactus, as expected, but inflicted some mystical hurt on him as he went down. Then Ares bounced back quickly with the essential feat: Lazarus Pit. Ares' 275 points go a lot further when you can use them twice.

the six Jinxes was not my team...
But I liked it.
It was even fun to play against.
Despite the infinite rerolls and such it was never a given as to what the result would be.

Whew!! Good thing I only used 5 Mysterios in my team for the regional event. Man, I was soooo close to the magic "six of the same fig is cheese" meter.
We were play a 4 player battle royal 600 pt's and I DESTROY all first off I had Ares with fortitude, rip it up , damage sheild, and hay maker. A vet Scarab, rookie easy company solider, vet typhiod mary,2 rookie con artist, and exper paramedic, and a vet check mate medic that was my team. One guy had ultimate Thor,2 deo agent's, Exper Wonderman, unique Abbey Chase,Unique Witch blade.
Next guy had Vet jade ,Vet mr. teriffic, Exper Blockbuster, The Atom, and two hawkmen vet's. Next guy had Unique Hush ,Morgan le fay, Vet ulitimate Jean Grey, Lot's of conartist and vet Wonder man. And Ares ran the board LOL.... Ares RULES I think he is worth his point's . Because No one can stand toe to toe with him (KC supes, Ultimate Thor, Gladiator,Magog,Ultraman,Shazam,Unique Hellboy , Samandahl Rey, Dormmamu,KC wonder woman, Ulik vet or SOD Superman ) . They all Wipe ARES @$$ LOL . I think He's going to be at the top for a while ....I mean who else can wiz kid's make that could even come close.......
( Exiles HYPERION ((((CHILL'S)))) I don't think Wiz kid's would do that to Superman fan's

As one player and co-creator of the infamous Jinx Swarm, I was about to get on here and defend myself from the mistaken accusation of 'cheese' even though MeatLoafX already did a bang-up job.
Then I saw DS's post and realized I didn't have to. The Jinx teams (both of them) only had 5, not 6. So we're good.
And S. Grimson? NO team is cheese the first time somone plays it. It only becomes so when it is exploited, copied and overused because of it's effectiveness. Then the label of 'cheese' can be correctly applied.
Ok, this is my last post on this subject. You can attempt to gang up on me all you want (it is one of the more annoying aspects of gamers) I really don't care. The fact is I don't agree with your definition of what is and isn't cheese, and you don't agree with mine. Since you don't actually READ my posts, I consider this a waste of time.
