“Hahaha! Excellent, excellent,” Ra’s Al Ghul laughed as he stood up. “Not only are you a worthy successor, but you are a worthy rival, Detective!”
The Gotham Knights team walked towards Ra’s al Ghul surrounding him.
“You will be going now,” Ra’s said, clapping as many more assassins came in from the entrance Batman and his team had used.
“You’ve earned your freedom. Perhaps the next time we meet, Detective, you will reconsider my offer.”
“Lets go,” Batman said as he walked off.
“But, we can‘t let him get away!” Robin said.
“What would we do? The police won’t take him. He kidnapped his own daughter which isn’t a crime, and Stephanie who would be outted as spoiler when he was put on trial.”
Robin just solemnly nodded as the Bat team walked past Ra’s new group of assassins and out the door.
“Next time,” Batman says to Ra’s. “You won’t get off.”

“Your honor, the search warrant is obviously flawed. It does not even have my client’s warehouse’s address on it. It states a legal search for 756 Jefferson street. My Client’s warehouse is on 576 Jefferson street”
“Your honor, that’s garbage. There isn’t even a 756 on Jefferson Street-- it was a typo!”
“That doesn’t change the fact that it wasn’t my clients address. We have search warrants for a reason.”
“It’s inevitable discovery. If we fixed the typo and we then searched the warehouse, we’d have found the same arson equipment!”
“My client’s Warehouse burned down the next day before the court offices opened. Your search warrant was executed at night well after any judge would be able to approve a new one. Therefore, had you waited for a correct warrant you would have never discovered the equipment.”
“I’m afraid he’s right, Ms Spencer.”
“But your honor! We found the same flamethrower, ballistics will state it matched exactly!”
“Not in my courtroom they won’t. I’m sorry Ms. Spencer, but we have to uphold all of the rules of the law in all forms even if it means a few guilty people go free.”
“Garfield Lynns, this court finds that the police did not correctly exercise the warrant. Since the flamethrower was the only piece of evidence that pointed towards you being guilty in this case, I am forced to let you go. You got off lucky this time. Case Dismissed.”

“Heard you had a tough one today, Kate,” said Marion Grange, Gotham City’s lead district attorney.
“Yeah. I’m sorry the stupid judge threw out the search warrant. There was nothing I could do. This keeps happening! I‘m telling you, I‘m on the verge of quitting.”
“You need to calm down, Kate. There is nothing you could have done. We just have to fight the good fight and keep trying. It’s a shame the police don’t have the legal leeway Batman has.”
“Batman?”
“Yeah, him and all those superhero types. They don’t need search warrants, they don’t have to read prisoners their Miranda rights, or do anything else that ties the hands of our boys in blue. Just the other day, batgirl brought in a major drug dealer - with his drugs and all his accounting books. Just left all three right outside police headquarters.”
“It‘s too bad we don‘t have more vigilantes,“ Kate said with a weary laugh.
“I guess so, although….” Marion’s voice trailed off as Kate started thinking about her new plan.
