A lot of people are talking about Icons Vet supes, but...
Is he really a major threat in a 300 point restricted tourney? I don't get to play in many tourneys, but it seems that he wouldn't be that great (since you pretty much have to put fortitude on him. That doesn't leave much for support).
But, some people are saying otherwise. So, in a competitive tourney, do I have to fear supes with fortitude?
Superman, in a 300 pointer, is gonna need the cheapest (read: fragile) TK available and a medic to have a chance against a decent team and player. With Fortitude, he has to drop TK, which hurts his mobility a lot against a swarm.
God is smarter than we are....

He tends to walk over a lot of teams until teams are built to take him on. Mileage varies however. Where I play and run, we have a few very good players, and that means a V Supes that is tough to handle. Very tough.

he has a 10 range to go along with a 13 hypersonic speed. so that equal a 22 range. which equal a lot of mobility.
I used him ONCE in a 300 pointer, but I didn't run fortitude. Most players at my venue cut back on the designated outwit pieces (Black Panther, Lobster Johnson, etc) since Fortitude came out. So, I didn't even bother using it, and the one team I played who had an outwitter might as well have painted a giant Bullseye on his chest!

a lot of his deadliness comes down to the simple roll of who picks the map. if he's outdoors and can escape to soaring, he's a force to be feared. if he is stuck spending movement points maneuvering around indoor terrain/barriers then he's less of a threat.
unstoppable makes him more formidable indoors, but it's still no substitute for going orbital.

Superman and his #####es.
BFCs:
Earthquake, Isolation, and Poor Teamwork means a lot of trouble for other teams too.
And don't forget when he carries his 3D desk/Shield of Invincibility, the ubiquitous TK bullet Pulse Waver/Incapper/PsyBlaster is likely going to come up short and shortly be served up on Kryptonian melba toast...

I played that team and won a Tony Stark. All three teams I played a different variation of Super-Man: V Icons, NGN Supes, and KC Supes. I lost Destiny twice and Empress once through out all three matches and went undefeated. This is with no Outwit either.
In that low a point game I would rather still have options. I never take a fig over 150 points if I can help it in anything under 400pts.
yeah, it seems that supes without fortitude is fish in a barrel. If you outwit his HSS and put a pog in front of your outwitter, you're pretty much golden.
I don't care if he has HSS, 251+ points devoted into one figure is suicide if you play against a decent player.
Heck without fortitude he's OW bait. This last week I saw someone put ICWO, w/Oracle on the card, on lockjaw for the most asinine outwitter I've ever faced. Made my Supes pratically immobile (his Poor Teamwork didn't help me much either).
I agree with the above post that only if you play someone with a poorly built team or someone who cant seem to make any good dice rolls . In a 300 point match I would have 4-5 peices to your 2 or maybe 3.My venue does not use battlefield connditions so I basically would play a brawler/flyer(with charge and superstrength) who is under 100 points like wonderwoman, superboy, superwoman etc and then pair him with another peice no more then 50 points with any of the following charge,BCF or Some sort of ranged attack and wear you out(Vet echo, wildheart ). Then another peice with running shot hopefully a flyer who and then another peice to round out the team with either a ranged attack or BCF
Team that I would use is Warmachine-r , superboy-E , Echo-V w/armor peircing and Sunfire and I would rock your world. Basically war machine would do ranged attacks on supes and superboy would base you carrying Echo who would charge next round and blades claw . Then Sunfire and War machine would be delegated to taking out any support peices like medics that wanted to get some. Unless I rolled crappy your supes would die......
Yea I would possibly lose my superboy or echo but something that I have found is that if you play heroclix like you would play chess nine times out of ten you will win the match. If you dont know about what I mean then let me explain how an old man explained it to me.
In chess if you know exactly how your opponnent is going to react to your moves then you have half won the game as you can control your opponent by making him react to your moves.
The next thing in chess is that since all the peices in chess have point values if you are able to take higher point peices only lose lower point peices then you are a leg up on your opponnent points wise. I also have seem it work in Heroclix. If you are playing a big point peice like NGN supes at 211 points and and I can get 2 or 3 peices and swarm you and yes you will take out 1 of the peices but not both of them and if you do then your peice will be severly hurt ...

I should make that more clear. I won a Tony with Superman even with said outwitting and poor teamwork but that was because it was 400 points, anything less is complete suicide.
And yes, I did play against a couple of decent players (ICWO and perplex on thor completely negated my IIF, blarg!).
