....oh, fine. I used V Scourge and some older feats too.
Anyway, I was testing out some of the new Sinister/DR pieces I got today on the Danger Room indoors map. The teams were as follows:
U Forge - 84
+ Nanobots - 10
U Wolverine - 94
+ Automatic Regeneration - 12
V DR Storm - 40
V DR Cyclops - 40
V DR Angel - 50
+ Force Field - 10
+ Armor Piercing - 10
V DR Jean Grey - 50
Total: 400
U Purple Man - 100
+ Nanobots - 10
+ Protected - 8
V Jack O'Lantern - 62
V Electro - 81
U Ka-Zar - 40
+ Armor Piercing - 10
R Bullseye - 34
V S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent - 29
V Scourge - 21
+ Armor Piercing
Purple Man's team started by moving Bullseye, Scourge, Ka-Zar and the Shield Agent (carrying Purple Man) into the outdoor part. Purple Man and Shield Agent are on the little three-square piece of elevated in the corner and stay there. The X-Men respond by having Jean TK Wolvie into the middle of the map, and he takes refuge in the little 'house' thing in another corner of the outdoor terrain near Bullseye. Angel then carries Forge out between the car and the big piece of elevated, where Forge outwits Purple Man's MC.
After the two teams finish moving everyone into position, a couple shots are fired and missed (Bullseye at Cyclops, Cyclops at Electro)Wolverine draws first blood - he charges into Bullseye and nearly kills him right away. Bullseye ends up on Willpower, which he uses to fail his breakaway roll repeatedly. All hell starts breaking loose. Scourge gets a shot in against Forge, knocking him off his outwit. Jack O'Lantern does a running shot and gets a critical on Wolverine (putting him back on Battle Fury, much to Purple Man's chagrin). Jean Grey tries to make herself useful, only to find herself with a faceful of Ka-Zar's knife. Cyclops gets MCed into punching Storm in the face, and Electro finishes the job - KOing Storm and knocking Cyclops off his best click. Bullseye is killed. Nobody can touch Jack, his Super Senses are going off like crazy. Jean, ironically, dies at the hands of a Mind Controlled Cyclops. Ka-Zar charges in and cuts Scott in half, but then gets killed by an irate Forge. Wolverine keeps getting shot at (and usually hit) by Jack while he chases down and kills Electro. Purple Man gets kind of annoyed that Wolvie is keeps getting hit on to (and auto-regenning again back on to) Battle Fury, so he starts using his 1 damage (note: Purple Man is still on his first click) to ping Wolvie. And all this time, Angel is desperately trying and failing to hit Scourge, while Scourge is desperately trying and failing to hit Angel.
In the midst of all the chaos, Jack O'Lantern finally brings down Wolverine - just before Angel decides to break away from Scourge and work with Forge to put Jack down from the count. When the dust clears, Scourge, Purple Man, Shield Agent, Forge (on his second Support click) and Angel are the only ones left. Purple Man's team jumps on the 3-square elevated terrain near the small pool, so Forge and Angel make their stand in the pool. Terrible rolls are had all around, but Forge eventually breaks the trend by getting past Scourge's Shape Change to kill him - rolling doubles to knock him off the roof. Now that the half-dead Angel can get to the roof, he does just so, basing his two enemies. Forge shoots Purple Man a couple times and gets him on his 10 attack click, where he stays thanks to Mastermind. The Shield Agent and Purple Man ping/incap Angel to death, and Purple Man callously shunts his damage off to the Shield Agent, killing her. It's down to just Purple Man on his 10 attack click and Forge on his second last click. After some...interesting...dancing around and missing a lot, Purple Man Nanobots enough objects to put him on his first click, where his Senses and Shape Change allow him to ping Forge to death with impunity.
V Electro is nice, as long as you keep him from getting based. Not only does that lose him half of his offensive ability, but it ensures a rapid death for him.
V Jack O'Lantern is a champ, dealing out that 3 damage where it's needed and keeping himself safe via Senses.
Purple Man is a lot of fun, and I expect he would have performed better if he didn't have an opponent with battle fury in his face all the time.
Forge is awesome. With Nanobots, you can make sure he can do whatever you want him to do at almost any time. The X-Men TA works really well for him on his third- and second-last clicks: An adjacent X-Man he wants to heal can use the X-Man TA to put him further up his dial into an ideal healing position (or into Psychic Blast for a more offensive flavour) and then he can heal them back up again.
Shield Agent does what she needs to do. She can carry your guys around, then use the Shield TA to give them a boost when they need it. She can also hold her own as an attacker.
Angel is wicked. And by wicked I mean nearly untouchable.
Wolverine works out pretty well. I expect he would have done better, too, if he didn't have the majority of an entire 400-point team to contend with at once.
Ka-Zar is great at killing support characters. I didn't get a chance to use him on larger characters, but with Armor Piercing, I suspect he'll be an asset against them.
Just by looking at Electro's dial, I could tell that he was going to be a great ranged combatant. And I also could tell that he would get eaten alive if based by a grounded fig. It nerfs all of his starting powers.
Game 1 - Helped take out a V Green Lantern and AW Magneto. Eventually got KOed near the end of the game by V Icons Batman because I was foolishly stood my ground instead of running away when I was on my last click.
Game 2 - Pretty much singlehandedly took out V Wildfire and put V Darkseid on his last clicks. Eventually was KOed by a couple of figs.
Game 3 - Put a dent into the big Sinestro fig and that's about it. Was decimated by Amazo and KC Flash.
Every game he got in the first shot, and it was a good first shot. But every game he mostly was taking 3 or 4 damage right back. Didn't survive in any game but I was pretty agressive with him.
My H/W link does not reflect the wants for my collection, it is a list of figures that I already have, but still "want" to play.
I haven't used Purple Man as of yet, but I have used Forge and Angel and found that your assessment of those two was accurate.
As for Black Bolt, you can greatly increase his survivability by using a couple of ES/D figs to move in front of him after he finishes his attack...
Thanks. It could have been more play-by-play, though, if I had actually posted right after I did the testing instead of waiting a couple hours until I forgot half of what happened.....ah well.
Sounds like a good strategy for Black Bolt. I use a similar strategy when using KC Batman, except replace "ES/D" with "Stealth".
From the sound of it, it seemed to me that you had taken notes during the battle.
I like any Strategy/Tactic that makes KC Bats more playable...
Melt him down and make a new 3D object out of him. That way, you can play with him every game.
