Wow....that's so quacktarded.....Unless I am mistaken, getting hit with EQ wouldn't help anyone, right? Even if your intent was to push off of Earthbound, turn 2 would drop FTI....
It was a compromise made necessary due to Proximity Mines. When Prox Mines came out, FTI was written so that only an attacks were covered by it. With Prox Mines and a couple of TK'ers you could, before your opponent even had a chance to move, TK up an object (or objects, depending on the number of actions and TKers you had) right to your opponents front line. So it was either create an errata for Prox Mines or tweak the wording slightly on FTI. I opted for changing FTI.
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.
So I came up with an interesting interaction regarding FTI.
Section 1.12 First-Turn Immunity A character, which is still in its original starting position on the map, may not be attacked or damaged, except by friendly characters, until after each player has completed his or her first turn.
Mystics TA: When this character takes damage from an attack, the attacker takes 1 damage. This damage is not an attack and cannot be reduced.
So lets say my opponent is 1st player and I am 2nd player. On my opponets very first turn he moves a Mystic into shooting range of one of my characters. On my very first turn I perform a ranged attack on said Mystic without moving from my original starting postion. Assuming I successfully hit and deal damage, since my character still has FTI, it would not take the Mystic Retaliation Damage.
I know this is a very rare situation, but the way FTI is worded, this would be correct. Just a little nuget to store away for later.
BTW, props for hair10, normalview, and Quebbster for answering the posted questions correctly and with good explainations.
