I was reading the rules that come with the Advanced Sentinel. It says you ignore characters when drawing lines of fire to/from Sentinel. It doesn't say anything about hindering terrain. So the question is: Does he get the bonus to defense if someone tries to shoot him through hindering?
Secondly, if I Mercenary the 150 pt Sentinel to the 211 pt Superman (Bat-ally), would he be stealthed if the shot was through hindering? What if he was standing on 4 squares of smoke cloud?
Boo. I know it makes sense, but the only way for this to work is to have someone make Smoke Cloud, then have Sentinel move into it. Might as well just grab a figure with Barrier to help him instead.
I just wanted to have a sneaky Sentinel. Seriously, those guys just popped up out of the nowhere all the time in the comics and cartoon.
One last question about him while I'm at it. I know he "gets double victory points" for defeating X-men, Bros, Ult. X-men, & Morlocks. (It doesn't say he is archenemies in the rules).
Either way, can I put any of these on my force with him, or is that forbodden as well?
With Sentinels, the hindering terrain modifier only comes into play if you are targeting a square of hindering terrain that is occupied by the target.
Not true. Sentinels (and other colossal figures) interact with terrain normally.
Simply put: LOF to/from a grounded fig from/to a colossal fig treats grounded terrain normally. This means that LOF that passes through Blocking terrain is blocked, and the target gets the HT bonus if the LOF passes through HT.
An elevated Sentinel targeting a grounded fig (or a grounded fig targeting an elevated Sentinel) would ignore HT as normal (except in the target square).
An elevated fig targeting or targeted by an elevated or grounded Sentinel ignores grounded terrain, but not elevated terrain (remember, a grounded Sentinel is considered Elevated if targeting or targeted by an elevated figure).
A soaring fig targeting or targeted by any Sentinel ignores all terrain, as a Sentinel is treated as Soaring when targeting or is targeted by a soaring fig.
So, if I drop a Smoke Cloud or two right in front of Sentinel's face (and give him Bat Ally), then no one can see him if the LoF crosses the Smoke Cloud?

Yep.

That's correct. I finally got Nbperp to confirm that even the extreme example of:
x--B-h--G
x=attacker, B=Batman, h=hindering, G=Giant
If x wants to shoot the Giant, said giant gets the hindering bonus in this instance. If the Giant is copying Bat Ally, he can't be seen.
Doesn't make "real-world" logical sense, but it's following all the rules of LOF and Giant rules.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
I've actually come up with a couple good support teams for the Sentinel... it just requires him having a few feats on him to make him more useful
