I'm way behind here, I guess. I have not picked up the LoSH starter, so I haven't read the rulebook for it. What is all the hallabaloo about theme team rules? Could someone please fill me in?
What do you have to do to officially build a themed team? When all characters on a force share a single common keyword among the keywords listed on their character card, the force consists of at least three or more characters and one character for each 100 points (or fraction thereof) in the build total, the force is a themed team.
What do you get for playing a themed team? A number of different benefits that represent their united purpose and easy coordination:
Themed teams receive a bonus to the roll to determine who will be the first player equal to the number of characters on the force. If you have five characters on your "Legion"-themed team, you get a +5 to your roll when you determine who will be first player. Play a themed team, and you have a better chance of picking the battlefield where the battle will take place!
Themed teams adapt and overcome unexpected conditions more easily than other teams. A themed team may (but does not have to) cancel one target battlefield condition during a game (chosen when battlefield conditions are revealed, and cancelled for the remainder of the game.) It may only be an ordinary day if a themed team wants it to be!
Themed teams can work together to change the course of the battle at a crucial moment: for each three characters on a themed team, a themed team may use Probability Control once during the game (though they do not possess it for any other purpose, such as feat prerequisites). When you use this effect, you place an action token on the character using Probability Control, though the token may not be placed on a character currently taking an action, or a character that already has two action tokens.
Keywords will help separate out teams that share a team ability, allowing for purer themed construction. The Superman Revenge Squad and the Monster Society of Evil might share the Superman Enemy team ability, but they'll never be a themed team together, nor will the Freedom Fighters and the Justice Society of America.
At this point we're mainly awaiting retroactive keyword lists from Seth.
Now I'm only confused on what constitutes as a theme team-
-all share a key word
-three or more characters
-one character for each 100 points? I dont get that one.
Yep. Basically, you have to have at least 3 figs on a 300 point team, 4 on a 400 point team, etc.
All of the figures must have the same keyword, and you have to have at least a 3 figures on the team (which would allow you to have a 1-200 point game IF they are all cheap theme figs)
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????

It really just means that you have one per 100 points. Example, if you have one who's at or a little under 150 pts and two who are around 75 pts each (so that the total is at or under 300 pts) then you have at least 3 characters on a 300 pt build team, and so meet the theme requirement if they have the same keyword.
You could have more, of course --- the Avengers set produces a 5-member Young Avengers team for 289 pts. That would qualify so long as you don't add a bystander or some other 11 pt or less piece without the same keyword.
...which I see Burleigh2 has already handled more succinctly.
You don't need to buy the LoSH starter to get the rules. As long as you are not using an internet connection that blocks the WK rules page (and if you are... shame on you, you should be working ), you can always download the .pdfs of the various rules, PAC, E&C documents, etc.
At the moment, the LoSH rules are not on that page (since Danger Room is still technically the rules set for about another week), but it should be linked there shortly and, in the meantime, you can find it here (both the rules and PAC):
Thanks for the updates, question though (sorry to hijack the thread Marty... you can borrow my DeLorean later.. heh):
I was wondering about that Probability control, is it that each character may use it once per game (while being given an action token specifically for that probability control), or is it as I'm reading, for every multiple of 3 characters you possess on your theme team, you may use PC once?

Thanks Drunky, oh also I forgot to ask: About cancelling a BFC. One time usage per tournament? And when its used, can you also play your own BFC? Or does it take the place of one of your BFCs?
Thanks again.

It doesn't replace your own BFC, so you can cancel your opponent's one and keep yours in play .
I don't play tournaments, so I don't know if you can use this each round or only once (but this has been discussed in this thread).
It seems as though they actually gave a huge incentive to build theme teams, especially if you can cancel a BFC every round to ensure your own is the only one in play.
