well, something is still bothering me, i guess its abot the new colossus clix fig, his state start out as peter rasputin i guess. i hate that. it is absurd that seing how he can change at will that he would go into a fight with his defeses down, i mean look at the human tourch, he starts up all powered p when he is another character that requires some sort of activation to become super powered. the hulk is a different story altogether because it is a mostly involuntary shift, but then again why would a team of hero's bring bruce banner to a battle with them. collossus got screwed over there if you ask me
I agree with you on the Colussus tip. Since most of these people who have a human starting click can actually turn at will, the three-turns it takes to get them useful is quite a waste, and inaccurate. But, at least it keeps their point costs down, supposedly, so I guess it would still be cost effective for Avalanche or whoever has pulse-wave to auto hurt them.
I'm not sure it actually keeps their point cost down. That seems to be one of the problems with Wizkids' formula...a click is a click is a click regardless of where it lands on the dial. I point to rookie Hulk and Rookie Thor as an example. If you compare their dials, they are very similar, except Hulk is backwards. Hulk has some better stats on some clicks, but Thor flies, has running shot and a ranged attack. And Thor is only a few more points more than Hulk.
Your best bet with colossus is to hold him back and have him heal a fellow x-man (like with wolfsbane)...then he can charge into action. Still wastes the same amount of turns, but only 1 action, and in a way you keep your click rather than wasting it (it's transferred to someone else on your team).
I don't mind the first "normal" click of Colossus as much (can be exchanged with X-team ability) as well as his low defence/AV !
Colossus should have 16 defence for all his Inv. clicks (and more of them and NO toughness clicks).
second only 1 click of 10 AV on a bruiser is really bad (look at Thing) !
I'm not a big fan of the empty first click but it seems to be something they think fits the x-team ability. I was almost expecting iceman to have one as well. I think they were expecting the empty clicks to make the x-men very push friendly early game. I don't think its worked well, but it might become more viable now that the x-men have some cheap taxis. Push a taxi carrying colossus, then use the x-team ability to heal taxi and put colossus on a usable click. Granted there are still alot of actions involved for little benefit and you have to make sure you can manage lines of sight well enough that noone hits colossus while he's sitting on that first click
one thing I read was that figures like colossus do not have their powers in their original state. For example he could be shot and killed while in his non-metallic form. a character like human torch can always use his powers without having to change into his superhuman form. Don't know how accurate this is, but it could be one explanation.

Colossus can change into his metal form when he thought aboot it (just like the human Torch).
but i think the issue is human torch and iceman is that they can make use of their powers whether they are in a changed form or not. I don't know much about human torch, but Iceman can access atleast some degree of his power (enough to create a barrier for instance) without turning into a snowman. Colossus, while the change is instantaneos, has to be in the changed form to use his powers (specifically his invulnerability).
Honestly I think the decision was based more on gameplay than any comic book "reality" The click of warmup makes a little bit of sense when coupled with the x-team ability (or the titans. is that right? don't know dc that well) I think the designers thought the empty early click would be a plus, early source of healing without wasting a prime click, so they looked at the x-roster and tried to figure out which characters they could justify it on, hence colossus, vet white queen, wolfsbane.
