COM DISH (heavy object): Continual.
When this object is used in an attack, modify the attacker's damage value by +1 for the attack.
The wording for this is throwing me off. It's a heavy object, and heavy objects modify damage by +2 in an attack, so why does the Com Dish modify damage by +1? Or do the +1 and +2 add up?
yeah the comm dish does an extra +1 damage on top of the +2 damage it already does as a heavy object. i believe the way it is worded, saying that it modifies damage by +1 for the attack means it doesn't count towards the rule of 3.
Like base damage of 4, +1 for perplex, then +2 for the comm dish = 7
but when you make the attack and hit with the object you deal an extra +1 damage.

if i'm wrong some one stop me.
You're wrong. Stop.
The Com Dish gives a total of +3 to your Damage Value.
An old Special Object, the Soda Machine, gives a bonus to Damage -Dealt-, which is different from Damage Value. That's what you're thinking of.
To answer the original poster: Yes, the +2 and +1 add up to +3, so Damage Value cannot be increased above that +3.
The damage Value CANNOT be modified past the rule of 3
What you're describing is Damage Dealt
Mental note: Do not post right before going to bed.
On the other hand, the difference between damage dealt and damage value needs pointing out as well, as some newbie might think a critical hit can't deal extra damage if you use the Com Dish...

Dude, you're preaching to the choir
I can't tell you how often I've had to explain Value Vs Dealt
