Well I generally play to have fun, and that team doesn't look like much 'fun'.
"OK I will attack your Storm." (roll hit!!!) "OK take your 5 Damage. What you have Protected on her, darn. OK I'll attack your Cyclops." (roll, hit !!!) "OK take your 4 Damage !!! What, you have Protected on him too? OK, I guess I'll end my turn then, your turn." He goes, 'pushes' Storm to hit my character for 3 Damage "OK take your push Damage. What? Warbound? So Storm can pass the token off to Black Tom, and she doesn't push? And she can clear at the end of the turn, and go again next turn !?!?!?"
Yeah, if that's not 'cheese', I don't know what is
As I said, that's the reason I won't play tournament anymore. Abusive power gaming = suck the life/fun out of clix.
Man you must never play any other games in the tourny format do you?such as Magic the gathering... i have been a judge for bothe for about 4 years.. MTG is so much more hardcore that towards the end of my playing career i cringed at constructed formates.. HC is so much more laid back then any other game i have ever played.
So take it as a blssing that theres just a little cheese isntead of every one yelling judge if you shuffle your deck wrong to see if they can get you disquilified...
Can we not turn this into a "stop ruining the game" thread please? This all has been discussed at length on other threads this thread is about a guy wanting advice on how to tweak a team he made using Warbound, I'm sure he doesn't want to hear people saying he is sucking the life out of the game by using feat cards, please leave that to other threads.
As far as the team I like it man, SR Storm is really good and I never thought about using Warbound with her on a team. That high range and defense looks like it will work out really well especially attacking every turn.
Actually, my version of the team only has 30 points in feats (10%). I specifically designed the team to avoid having to place Warbound on every figure, and I try to keep feat points to a minimum because after a certain number they are hard to keep up with.
The reason I don't use DR Beast is because he doesn't have the X-Men keyword (he has X-Factor), which is the keyword I'm Warbounding to.
some people are crazy competitive, some are not. some are competitive as carp but too lazy to keep up with all the feats and BFCs and stupid strategies like this where you can only win if you have team X with BFC Y. i stopped going to tournaments because i go against the same people every week, and they are all so predictable. this guy always plays a horrible theme team, this guy always plays super cheese just to win, this guy always plays these two figures (r destiny), this guy always plays KC green lantern, this guy always plays a colossal when we have high point games (guarantees victory, he is a ######). so anyways, what was i saying?

I understand all of that I'm just saying that this thread is about a guy asking for advise on his team, not wanting to hear people complain about why they quit going to tourneys and how cardboard wrecks the game take all that somewhere else not the "Strategy/Tactics" forum
Primarily that you need a more involved judge who will change up the scene a bit.

Seriously mate, its a strategy game. Thats how strategy games work, plan x works with options A B and C, but fails against option Q. This particular strategy looks pretty decent. Why are you reading threads obviously about the cardboard aspect of the game if you aren't interested?
1 - remember to roll for leadership! sounds like Storm will be attacking, Tom will be Barrier-ing, and X-23 will be tying up or Beast will be switching clicks via x-men TA whenever possible. you'd have to make the leadership roll, and use 3 actions or less to get the CP token.
3 - that said, i'd spend 43 points straight up on E Nocturne. i think her stats down the dial are better (better starting speed, higher defense, 4 range instead of X-23's 0), and unless your opponent is on his toes she's got some tricks up her sleeve - Mind Control, Charge, etc. She's also got a deceptively deep dial for such a cheap cost. On top of all that, she's got the Brotherhood TA so there's a free move instead of one that will cost against you when trying to save up for CP tokens.
hope this helps!
My H/W link does not reflect the wants for my collection, it is a list of figures that I already have, but still "want" to play.
An opinion shared by more than a few people. With that advent of special powers, I'd LOVE to see feats go away.
An opinion that, while shared by more than a few people, is NOT shared by just as considerable a following. It's true that special powers are like built in feats, but personally to see feats go away would be bad. That's not to say I wouldn't mind seeing the more abusive feats like Protected have greater limitations or go away althogether, but the plethora of useful and universal feats for powers that [while they may not often see play] are great for theme games...it would be a shame to see them go. Just because YOU don't see the use or need for feats like Entrench, Slippery, Telekentic Reach, and their ilk doesn't mean everyone or even the majority share that opinion [and yes, I realize it means not everyone or even the majority share mine either, as it is still an opinion].

Will you guys stop hijacking this thread, one that a guy asked for help on teambuilding, and take your arguments that don't even matter in this forum to PM please. I said it like 3 times already nobody wants to come to the strategy/tactics forum to read people arguing over stuff that they can talk about elsewhere.
Thank you Jarimy for attempting to bring this thread back to the point.
Do you think this force has game against the prevailing constructed metagame (mystic-theme w/ R Shazam, double R Shazam, Stardust + support, Robot-theme w/ Danger, Thanos, Apoc, the many incarnations of Spy-theme, Skrull/soldier-theme, etc...)?
If not, what can be added/changed about it to make it have a chance?

Yes. Or, more specifically:
-R Shazam and R Shazam x2...not going to lie, these guys are tough. Having an easily removed activation click and then essentially having two dials [the front pain going to Billy before bringing the pain even harder again] makes them hard to meta-game against because they leave so much open, including Fortitude, among their supporting cast. But Shazam has NO range outside of using Hypersonic (and possibly throwing an object, but I challenge you to find someon who will actually think of that) whereas Storm has 10, Perplex, Running Shot, and Contingency. Use this advantage to put Shazam on his Billy clicks and then Warbound efficiency to apply a finishing, massive strike, or even use X-23 as an opener to get past Impervious at least. Dealing with the support is old-hat but a tad dangerous, since he's likely to be backed by a true ranged figure. Regardless of all this rambling, yes, I think you'll be fine as long as you play smart.
-Stardust relies on 19 DV w/ Super Senses and then packing out on the odds by bringing Protected and PC to the table. Simply keeping X-23 in the face of PC, using Beast to similarly block PC LoS to Storm takes away that portion of the strategy. Get Beast to OW SS [unless your opponent packed Fort, then keep Beast on Perplex] so Storm can lay down the law with a final 13 AV attack at the very limit of Storm's range. Dealing 5 or 6 damage forces Stardust to use HSS run-away strategy because the bulk of the plan [high defense, SS] has now been negated, and gives you a free retaliatory attack if Stardust chooses to attack in turn. Another solid hit and follow up ends the game.
-Robot /Danger relies very heavily on Danger's 'Outsiders on Steroids' ability. By keeping Storm more than 10 squares away [not that much of an issue with her Running Shot and carrying Beast around as a LoS blocker]. Storm can take them.
-Storm can hit hard enough that Thanos/Apoc will get 'pounded out' in short enough order, and she matches their efficiency with her Warbound battery while also having tie-up/secondary attack. Her Protected helps balance the fact that they will probably ALSO have Protected. This ends up looking more like a slugfest [where storm is at a disadvantage], but proper utilization of tie-up [X-23] to limit return fire can carry her.
-Spy/Soldier/Skrull/yaddablahfishcakes: Storm will now be metagame unto herself and this will work against you. Still, you know what the team can do, and how you will want to handle the team you're facing. Storm certainly has advantages that other figures don't since she can easily dish out crippling [or vaporizing] single target pain or just lay down the law with EE/Quake against impending swarms.
All told, while I personally would use a different supporting lineup than Beast/X-23/Black Tom and would consider bringing multiple versions of the team (Storm as the center but then with exchangable support crews) the team has solid competetive potential.

Power Girl AND Bust.
The biggest problem with the big bricks is they usually start with Impervious.
For most of the current tournament I ran Storm, Prof X and Marvel Girl.
I played a team of Apocalypse, Fortitude and some pogs.
Apoc had moved up and outwitted Mind Control on Prof X. I used Storm to carry Prof X while Running Shot. I hit and Apoc missed his Impervious role so he took 1 click. On his next turn he hit Storm for 4 and 1 for knockback. The only thing that saved me that game was I had put Prof X where he couldn't see him behind Marvel Girl. He had pushed to hit Storm and got his special power roll so no damage but two tokens. I was able to Mind Control him and moved him his full speed away. I use X-Men ability to start healing Storm. After 3 Mind Controls and moving Apoc away, I had Prof X pushed to his psychic blast click. The next time Apoc moved up I had left Prof X out so he outwitted mind control which I wasn't planning on uising that time anyway. I used Cerebo to up damage on Prof X and Strom. Prof X psychic blasted Apoc for 4. Then Storm RCE for 6. -1 for Apoc toughness and he was out.
Long story to agree with Arokosaki that Storm needs good team mates to take on the big hitters.
I agree on most of your points except where you mention outwitting Stardust, which can't happen because of her team ability.
What would be your supporting cast?
Peace.
)_)...(_(...carp. I keep forgetting about that pesky PC TA. Throws a monkey wrench into many a plan. The cast looks the most attractive to me personally also has Black Tom (he's just a great Barrier/OW from Stealth guy), but replaces X-23 and AV Beast with DR Beast and E Multiple Man [total is 60 + 100 + 32 + 55 + 12 for Contingency and 20 for Warbound]. This is just plain personal preference for having a second perplexer on the team that acts as tie-up. Madrox is veiwed mainly as a non-threat by an opponent, who won't waste time on him until he's in their face (while an opponent will likely take the chance to off X-23 because of her Blades). This means he can still provide support for Storm up until he is actually KOed while providing a means of trying to attack an Imperv figure for 3 [to click them one down the dial and hopefully off Imperv, which works for the R Shazam crew if they fail their roll]...and is still in the ball-park range of 'throw-away points' as X-23 while also acting as a battery for Tom or Beast if necessary.
Again, it's just personal preference...I'd rather give Storm 2 Warbound batteries and have my tie-up be able to double as a battery for Beast or Tom, but the team has its own issues that your setup is able to handle better [X-23 has her stealth ability, for one thing, as well as AV Beast having a dial of useful abilities instead of being a melee dial with top perplex and closing OW].
