*phew* when I saw Cram posted, I kinda got nervous.
Glad you liked it.
Hopefully pt 2 won't be delayed too long.

I'd sit Destiny in the back and run around with Thanos, keeping him in cover and always pusing, so his defense was always 19 - 21 with Impervious, then I'd slowly work my way back towards Destiny and run off of her Prob. Controls.
I've used this one man army also and won. This was despite a jerk I played who reached into his figure bin and "magically" pulled out a Disbanded BFC when he saw my team. I thought his KC Flash + Armor Piercing + Nanobots was going to be the end of me (he chose the AW map too). I guess that it's proof that a One Man Army can win, but you'll need very good positioning (and need a little luck).
I really like this article! All of anonym0use's stuff makes for a good read. Very thoughtful and some great advice (especially with "revealing" your team at the last second - boy did I learn that lesson the hard way). The argument could be made that playing a one-man army is even more difficult than using a well-diversified team.
So kudos to you all for continuing to dare using this strategy!

I agree. Wining with a One Man Army, at least these days, really shows a player's skill. It's definitely the mark of a good strategist.
And, like you I've had an experience where I *just happened* to be Disbanded, despite the fact that my Disbanding completely ruined my opponents Wild Card team (there's no way he would have thought to play the card on himself). I still managed a win, and it was funny to see him try and cope with the fact that he had screwed himself over, but it was still a slimy move.

Legacy Ares - 275
Protected - 8
Mary Jane Pog x2 -12
Lian Harper Pog x5 - 5
300pts
The strategy is use the 3D Desk to give him a 21 Defense on hindering. Move up and carry MJ pog, use it to block, clear, then move and shoot from range as much as possible to keep that defense at the 20 mark from retaliation and position in places that threaten several avenues of the board so maximize his fire lanes. Always use the outwit to cancel move and attack powers that can threaten immediately OR other outwit. Ares is a killer all the way down the dial and if something is foolish enough to base you, pity them.
It takes lots of positioning as you stated, but it can be scary and effective if played patiently.

And you got yourself 15 points of POGs, or whatever takes Malice damage, because he doesn't need anything more!
He won't be Outwitted and won't lose move in Hindering (and can bust walls if needed).
You just get him a Tombstone, and he'll be forever in the first two slots!
Legacy Ares won't even see him coming!
If only we had a 15 pts TK...
Now, without Feats, yeah, Legacy Ares might be the one to end alive.
there was also the variant with just fortitude... and while the icwo left loose the chance for getting smacked with OW... I often felt a 21 defense or a 13 attack or 5 damage raw could be just as handy.... and with 'stroke on the OW clicks early on to keep some folks second-guessing what's gonna be done, Alan turned into the turret that's semi-mobile
"A" is "A". And no matter what universe he's from, Luthor... is Luthor.
I'm curious - has the loss of soaring affected one man armies? Icons Superman certainly had a bit of an edge (especially on the space map).
definatly for me it has..now u cant go into soaring with the original KC sups and out space people that way. it pretty much hurt the oneman armies that had fliers with HSS. ive also noticed KC Shazam! used less @ my venue ever since soaring left. in big multyplaer games wen kc sups and shazam were played the shazam(s) were always the last ones on the board..mayb cause everyone was scared of the supermen and thanos figs but kc shazam always held his own with the hit then go into soaring 10 spaces away with all the characters 10 range that cant hit him anymore
Hope is for those without skill or power. -Sinestro
Not necessarily a tentpole team, more of a co-op team...I use Man of Steel with Magog in 500 point games. Load them up with fortitude, protected, and ICWO on both (Unstoppable on MOS). Superman carries Magog around the map in style with a 19 defense and Magog acts like a poison-tipped drill of exploit weakness goodness in close combat, or firing off a beam of fatality from 8 squares away. The combo has dominated the board every time I have used them.

The two fortitudes puts you at the 10% limit for feats.
But who cares about rules anymore?
