My friend and I have been arguing over which is better charge or running shot. In my opinion Charge beats running shot hands down, but he disagrees.
Here's my case:
Figures with Charge are better at close combat which is good in case your opponent is using stealth or bases you, plus you're immune to knock back. This means that you can run up to your opponents ranged guys and completely hocheck them then work cleanup on the rest of his squad.
His Case:
Running shot allows you to pick off your opponent at a distance so that he can't in fact base you before you've competely hosed over his team. Plus with the superman ally or ultimates team ability or simply using the thunderbolts card, stealth isn't a problem most ranged guys.
So that's what we think about it, what do you guys think? Which is better and please give your reasoning.
If you have charge:
Do you also have a ranged attack?
Can you see the enemy to shoot them?
Are they within range?
Do they get a defense bonus against ranged attacks?
Can they shoot back?
There's no point in charging in unless it offers some tactical advantage.
If the enemy has no range, open fire and make them come to you.
If the enemy has a strong ranged attack (PB, RCE) charge in and shut them down.
There's way too many variables to say that one is definitively better than another in every situation.

The use of Running Shot vs. Charge is dependent on too many things to determine a "best".
Just off the top of my head, it can be dependent on:
Your movement
Your opponent's movement
Your range
Your damage value
Your attack powers
Your opponent's defensive powers
Your defense powers
Your opponent's movement powers
The terrain
The distance to your opponent
Your style of play
Now, people will sometimes have a favorite, but really, that's like asking which color is better, red or blue.
Edit: I guess I should have read 'm0use's post all the way before I posted... LOL.
Like the previous posters have said its all dependent on the player, style of play and situation.
I personally prefer to have the option to do ranged attacks and I like to pair a ranged flyer to carry a charger. To running shot the charger into range then on the next turn charge .
But thats my style of play...
