I recently bought a CD collaboration w/ Elton John and Leon Russell and in the liner notes Elton John discusses with a friend how he'd felt that Leon Russell, Laura Nyro and David Ackles were largely forgotten, so his friend went out and bought their music to check them out. This set in motion a series of events that triggered this collaboration.

When Joy To the World was brought up in Rock Wars it had reminded me of a fine artist I had allowed myself to forget in Hoyt Axton. This triggered me hunting up various Hoyt Axton songs on YouTube and eventually made me decide to revive DTM's Originals vs Covers. I asked DTM if he minded and he didn't so off I went.
I knew I was going to cover territory DTM would probably never go near anyway as his tastes are generally very different then mine and as far as I know I haven't repeated anything he had already done.
One big difference is, I don't like to close threads so anybody is welcome to vote on the older ones any time they want.

This also reminds me that I need to look over all the Mother's Finest links I can find. Damn that was a good band.

Truth be told, many to most of the Originals vs. Covers threads I did were from other members ideas and suggestions, definately not all from me. So whereas I might not have liked, or even knew, of such songs and covers, if someone suggested it, Id put it up.

Might even have a list of those unused suggestions, and possibly a full list of all the ones we did as well.

I do like me some Cliff Richard...
