When a character with the ambush feat makes an attack from water terrain, is it considered hindering for the attack and give them the plus 2? Wording is below.

Prerequisites: Stealth

Choose a character.

The character gets +2 to its attack value when it makes a close combat attack while occupying hindering terrain. After the attack resolves, the character's Stealth is countered until the beginning of your next turn.

I would say no, as water acts like hindering terrian for movement purposes; but it is not hindering terrain. Water is it's own terrain.

Water terrain is not hindering terrain.
