My venue is running a 400 point game tonight where NONE of the characters can have Hypersonic speed, a printed range greater than 6, and they need to have the boot speed symbol printed on the dial. It is a Golden age game.
Here is what I am playing with. Please give me honest opinions of what you think.
DC 75th Ares w/shellhead
Ragdoll w/Secret Six ATA
Big Figure
Mary Jane Pog x4
=400 points
In case you don't see what I'm doing here, I'm creating Mary Jane bombs with her copy ability and the Secret Six ATA. Now, ordinarily this is deadly enough, but with Big Figure around, Ares is going to be able to pop off an attack whenever somebody KO's a Mary Jane because of Big Figure's special power. As if Ares' "EVERYBODY FIGHTS" special weren't bad enough with these kind of stipuations!
I know this team stinks of cheese, and I apologize ahead of time to anybody who might get caught in my path. I am sick of all of the cheese players at our venue and have finally decided to show them all that I can build teams that are equally nasty and impossible for the new guys and lesser players to beat. I know in my head that declaring war in an attempt to stop war is a futile way of getting a point across, but I want them to see that this is just not a fun way to play a GAME. If they continue to play teams like they have been, they are going to drive away all of our players except themselves. Next week, I will be back to my regularly scheduled comic accurate theme team...FOR FUN.

I stand with you : forget about fun, time to show these always-winning-because-they-play-to-win guys that you can be a warrior too.
And good luck by the way.
As with your team : hmmmm, nasty. The Secret Six ATA will add so much groove to the Mary Jane.
But don't forget that any Pulse Wave will completly annihilate your whole strategy in one single blast, and that a clever player will play Extended Range to make sure he can Pulse Wave the 6 squares he's allow to.
Yes, this is working : take Skrull Queen Spider-Woman for example, add Nova Blast, Elite Sniper and Extended Range to her and she will deal 3 damage to everybody in a 6 square blast radius ; Extended Range alone will allow that for 1 damage ; Elite Sniper is just here to make sure she can do it while based.
Since you need to push at least Big Figure, I suggest you add the Telephone Booth special object to the team. It will save you one turn. And it will help with Ares too.

I'm not entirely sure how Extended Range works as I've never seen anybody use it, but Range can't be increased past the 6 as far as I know. Thank you for seeing what I'm going for here and not getting on my case for being a bully/cheesehead myself. I'm really just trying to prove that these kind of teams AREN'T fun to play against so they can see what they're doing to our venue. The judge is even getting to the point where he doesn't even want to be the judge anymore. It's THAT BAD. That's why the restrictions are soooooo many this week. He's REALLY trying to weed out the cheese.

As for the Extended Range feat, I play at this venue regularly and am also tired of the same cheese players each week. Not only do these players play cheese most weeks, they all tend to play the same feats each week. 9 out of every 10 weeks you will see contingency plan, shellhead, protected, alias, ICWO and warbound, with very little else every played. The likelihood of anyone playing Extended Range is amazing low unless someone reads this thread.
The best example of the cheese played at this venue I can give is last week even the judge played cosmic spidey in a non-themed team!
Though I do have to add that as a newer player (<6-months) I don't like the one player I admire at the venue for playing with integrity and good sportsmanship having to resorting to this, but I understand it. Given that I can't think of a single week in the last few months that you didn't play comic accurate, one week does not make an abusive pattern.

EXtended Range allow a character to raise his range value by any number equal or less than his printed damage value (up to +3 because of the Rule of Three) before making a range combat attack. Then, when the attack is made, he will have to lower his damage value by the same amount. When combine with Incapacitate, the attack don't add action token to the target(s) (so it is fairly pointless to use both in conjunction).
BUT since it only deals with damage value, and not damage dealt, it can work pretty well with Mind Control (no damage), Energy Explosion (damage dealt don't depend on damagae value) and Pulse Wave (damage value is locked, meaning it cannot be modified, meaning it cannot be lowered by the second part of the feat).
I understand that in the format you describe no range can ever be greater than 6. But the rules say : replace, then modifiy. So a PulseWave character using Extended Raneg woudl first halve his range to 3 and oinly then he would applied the modifier of Extended Range, which will never be more than +3. So at the very most, this trick will allow the cahracter to use Pulse Wave - eventually paired with Nova Blast - at his FULL 6 range, if he has a damage value of 3 or higher (6 /2 (PW) = 3 +3 (ER) = 6). You're still legal. And trust me : no one will see you coming.

For what it's worth, the game I used this team on was last night and I lost pretty bad going 1-2 for the night. I blame dice rolls (The great equalizer)
Blowing up Mary Janes was fun, but not so much when I could only ever do 1 damage to people. The one person that I could do more than one damage to was an opponent's Doomsday, but he kept rolling impervious so it didn't matter. I could have COMPLETELY destroyed a skrull team had it not been for my low bomb rolls. Oh well, my point was received by the other players and I got a few of the cheeseheads to admit to the fact that they build overly competitive so I still considered this a win. We'll see if anything ACTUALLY changes in the weeks to come.

Too bad you didn't win, yours was a fun idea.
Hope things will get better at your venue. If they don't, remember : Nova Blast + Extended Range can ruin anybody's day !

Thanks, but after this foray into cheese, I would rather continue to play the teams that make me happy and let the cheese heads and prize sharks fight amongst themselves. I would rather take a dive in the first round and enjoy my last two. It's not as if I need anything that is available as prizes anyway. I am JUST THERE FOR THE FUN. It's just sad that the people that are playing as hard as they are don't need any of the prizes either.
