For me, it is a toss up between the Cookie Monster and the Brightest Day versions. Though I would give anything to have an extra Cosmic Justice figure to put on those dials. That is the best sculpt they have done for J'onn so far.
I'm a fan of all three newer version of him, really. I have never played the Brightest Day figure because I hate the sculpt and haven't figured out how I'm going to mod him yet, but the dial looks nice and quite good for the points you pay. The main reason I'd go for Cookie Monster over him is that the overall composition of his dial just makes more sense, to me.
Up front you've got HSS and invuln, so you play him like your standard big brick. As theavengerthor points out, though, Super Strength at least on these two clicks would have been nice. When all that gives way to PB, Mind control, and his awesome invisibility power, you can pull him back and pick people off at distance. Then, if he gets knocked further down towards the bottom of his dial, charge, battle fury, and invlun make him a melee threat again.

That's true, but then none of them have very good keyword selection except for the LE, it seems. They're almost all some variation of Justice League and then maybe police or detective. Granted, those two are nice, especially detective, but JLI is one of my favorite teams to play so the fact that that's his only keyword isn't too big of a setback for me.
For the Brightest Day version, everything about click 2 make me want to push him to that click, so I guess I'd most likely use phasing to get somewhere useful and then pop a shot off, pushing me to click two. I just don't like figures with a good first click but a better second click - it makes that push feel like a waste, like I'm in a race with my opponent to push him before he gets hit and passes it. On the other hand, better overall defense and attack values and powers, and for ~40 points less, make him look pretty good next to the cookie monster. Mid-dial perplex is icing on the cake.
Black Lantern Martian Manhunter was fun, I played him once and he was enjoyable to run, but he felt a tad steep considering he only had toughness.
All of the older ones are too erratic in their dial. I may have an HSS brick one moment, and a stealthed range piece the next. The powers often didn't mesh even on the same click. I liked the vet OK, but at his pricetag I feel like he's pretty much obsolete now, with the Cookie Monster in the mix.
No seriously I love the Cookie Throne Manhunter. As a few have stated an amazing trait. Plus starting with HSS, then he gets that Telepathic Invisibility ability. Just wow

I was going to reply but when I read yours. All I could think of is thats what I was going to say.
The olny difference is I have a 2nd CJ J'onn and his sculpt does rest on my Cookie Monster dial. Thinking of moving it to a Brightest Day dial. Since that is probably the best dial out there for MM.
Which version of Martian Manhunter do you all think is the best? There's a few versions of him that are similar but also somewhat different. I'm having trouble deciding which one should be the 'definative' version of him in my collection. What do you all think?

Weird- almost exactly what I was going to say as I read through the thread, but this brilliant person posted it for me...
Cookie Monster Martian is pretty good for his points. It's also one of the more accurate representations. Although the brightest day Martian Manhunter is deceptively powerful.
Martian Manhunter is my favorite and I'm glad I own all 3 of the modern age pieces.
Cookie Hunter (AKA Orange Lantern Martian Manhunter lol) doesn't pull his weight for his points. He is hard to take down but just doesn't dish enough damage at a constant rate.
The Black Lantern one is confused. It can be a hypersonic monster, but it is also so easy to knock him off of his one useful click of hypersonic. He lands on the 8AV hypersonic far too often. His AVs are too erratic. The Trait is awesome, but in a tournament setting will rarely trigger. Most of his KO's will occur on click 1 anyways.. The Speed SP is horrible. He can phase and plasticity and if the opponent fails a breakaway they take 1 damage. Who is going to break away from a piece sporting plasticity? Especially one sporting toughness with 16/17 DVs. At least he has super strength.
The Brightest Day one is a real tank. He is probably the hardest one to hit with Stealth, 18 DV, Imperv, and Shape Change. Very often your opponent can just ignore this piece until the end. He has 6 range, with late dial move and attack. You're not going to want to push him off his second click either. So your opponent can just use their hypersonics and range pieces to pick off your team while Martian Manhunter sits there with half your team's points.
With good positioning and support, the Brightest Day is definitely the most usable piece. Especially in the hypersonic clicks.
These Martian Manhunters are definitely not a point and click pieces.
