I know LOTR is not out yet, but was wondering if there was information on this yet?
Will Horde Tokens be completely compatible for Golden Age Heroclix play, or is their mechanic meant only for playing the "Campaign" style game for LOTR?
As with all questions about LOTR... we don't have the starter, we don't know the specifics on anything about it, so anything right now would be 100% speculation (except the spoiled dials...)
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing
I think there are some important taxonomical issues that need to be ironed out, mostly around the new 'types' of games implied but not fully explained.
Namely, 'Epic' games and what that really entails, as well as the 'campaign' system. These are not one and the same, however, and how the Epic and Campaign sub-rules will apply or may prove usable by golden age or comic-inclusive games remains to be seen.
Conjecturally: Hoard tokens are just complicated Bystanders, and I foresee them following all rules for bystanders in any game of Heroclix. They gain the ability to stack and unstack and have access to whatever powers key off of that state, but otherwise they'll be treated as bystanders.
Epic-status games will grant them at least the ability to respawn in some fashion, but also brings the rule that the game ends if you only control Hoard tokens.
As for as how they work in a Campaign, well, I see that as more a collection of linked scenarios and some sort of inter-game framework more than any sort of real rules alterations.

We'll have to wait for at least a .pdf of the rules to be released, hopefully soon!
