I'm a new player, I've only played about 10 games or so total so far (including booster draft). I have a bunch of the IH and CA set pieces and not too savvy with building teams and putting together armies for certain formats. The format I'm building for is 700 marvel only + 1 Marvel Booster (Avengers/Captain America/Incredible Hulk) for the Infinity Gauntlet challenge.
So far, my team is:
1. Black Bolt (193)
2. Darkstar (98)
3. Invisible Woman (100)
4. Doctor Doom (200)
5. Scorpio (78) (with key)
It leaves me with 31 points to spare, and my only character outside of random army pieces is Stingray.
My goal is to use Invisible woman and Darkstar to TK Blackbolt close enough to begin attacking either with Ranged Combat or Pulsewave if possible. Doctor Doom is there to use his Outwit on hidden characters and probability control. Scorpio provides the extra item on the field that I can try to pick up or just use as cover, while Scorpio goes to nearby Hindering to use Outwit and random attacks here and there. When Black Bolt is in place, I set up consistent Barrier and Smoke. Doom can also provide a decent ranged combat.
For the booster I planned on using a Hulk booster, hopefully pulling a decent heavy hitter to draw out attackers that Bolt/Doom can hit from a distance.
Your team seems to lack a certain synergy. Here is how I would change your team. Since you are a new player I will only use the Hulk and Captain America set and try not to use to many super rares.
IH Black Bolt 193
IH The Leader 100
IH AIM Agent 38
IH AIM Renegade 34
CA Dark Star 98
CA Captain America 83
CA Squirrel Girl 59
IH Dare Devil 75
WOS Researcher 15 (ok I lied about only Cap and Hulk, but he is really easy to get)
Total 695 (add gem, key or gamma bomb).
The Leader beats Invisible woman hands down for the same points. Stealth, tk, mastermind, and a special outwit.
Squirrel girl can create a monkey joe token to be an endless supply of mastermind fodder for The Leader.
Dare Devil ignores stealth, so that means he can outwit characters in stealth who are giving you problems.
The AIM agent and AIM renegade have some good support powers. AIM agent has perplex and gets support down his dial so he can heal up your figures. Aim renegade has enhancement on his top clix and outwit on his second.
Darkstar has tk, barrier and her free smoke cloud trait, this allows The Leader to be in stealth any where he wants.
Captain America has a trait of running shot and energy shield/deflection as long as he holds his shield. Place him in front of the characters you don't want shot at.
Here is a strategy you may want to try. On your first turn, have Darkstar tk out The Leader and then put hindering terrain under him so he is in stealth. Have Squirrel girl create a monkey joe token and move it next to The Leader (in case he gets attacked.
On your next turn perplex up Black Bolt's attack to 13, push Darkstar to tk him out, then have the Leader tk Black Bolt out even further and have Black Blot do his special Pulse wave. With his 13 attack, Black blot only needs a 5 to hit a 18 defense.
Good luck.
Here's hoping we get a Vanilla Ice Clix in the next TMNT set.
Thank you, That actually sounds doable, I have all of the pieces listed except for Researcher; are there any feats I could use over the objects and Researcher? As far as Super Rares goes, I do have Scorpio, Squirrel Girl, Human Torch w/ Nova flame, Red Skull; and from the Hulk set I have Black Bolt, Hulk, Mighty Thorr, WinterHulk, and Spider-man.
Kidwicket: what are the new TK rules? That a single character may be hit with TK only once per turn?
IH Black Bolt 193
IH The Leader 100
IH AIM Agent 38
IH AIM Renegade 34
CA Dark Star 98
CA Captain America 83
CA Squirrel Girl 59
IH Dare Devil 75
Total: 680
I'm thinking of giving Black Bolt and Darkstar In Contact With Oracle as far as Feats go, the format called for any feats even though the challenge is Marvel only for building purposes and booster choosing.
Any help on what Marvel Booster to use with the team? The available choices are Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and The Avengers. So far I'm leaning towards Hulk for extra AIM pieces and heavy hitters to draw out potential Black Bolt targets.
Is this still the rule? I didn't see anything about not TK'ing with a figure that's been TK'ed under the 2011 PAC.
Maybe it's in the player's guide, but I'll have to check.
EDIT: NM, it is in the player's guide. Should have been added to the PAC or rulebook, though.
I looked in the Player's guide as you said you did, and it says the TK'd character cannot use TK that turn.
So for this strategy, assuming my opponent doesn't have a high range character, i should be able to
1st move Black Bolt with the Leader
2nd move the Leader with Darkstar
and then the next turn either make a ranged combat attack with black bolt, or if Leadership hits, TK Blackbolt out further with the Leader and use Pulsewave.
I still need ideas for the extra 20 points- I want to say In Contact with Oracle on both Captain America (A test game increasing his defense made him unstoppable against Ranged characters. I used the Monkey Joe token to move next to ranged opposing characters to force the breakaway or stall attackers into making a close combat attack) and Black bolt.

Is your Venue allowing Feat cards for the IG event? If so, you really cannot go far wrong using ICwO, it is an awesome feat.
Othwerwise, I would use the 20-pts to upgrade Darkstar to CA Invisible Woman. Probability Control on the first click is VERY helpful. The main thing you are giving up is a flyer for a Pasing taxi.

If you have a Gamma Bomb, Crimson Gem, or Scorpio Key special object, that would be a good use for the extra few points. (Note: if you do not have the Crimson Gem [my favorite!!; ) ] I should have an extra laying around. If you send me the shipping cost, I will send it to you free; I like getting my extra stuff into new player's hands!! )
Turn 1 have Invisible Woman TK The Leader into Hindering terrain to make the best use of Stealth. Be sure to move at least 1, if not both AIM figs next to him for Mastermind fodder, but be sure not block LOF directly behind him and to the side woward which Invisible Woman go. Black Bolt should taxi Invisible Woman a few squares forward, but not too far. Cap America and Monkey Joe should then be used to block your opponent's LOF to Black Bolt and Invisible Woman. Be sure use Perplex on tyhe Defense value of whoever you expect to get hit, or your most important fig as a deterrent. Try to keep AIM Agent away from an Outwitter.
Turn 2 clear.
Turn 3 you can either use The Leader to TK Black Bolt forward to SILENT SCREAM multiple opponents, or single target Pulse Wave to avoid the Doulbe Action. If The Leader cannot accomplish this by himself, have Invisible Woman do an initial TK to place Black Bolt closer to The Leader for a TK chain.
Yes, we're allowed to use any Feat from either universe, but the pieces must be Marvel Only.
It's unfortunate, but I don't have either the item (The only key I have comes with the Scorpio piece I have) or the Invisible Woman. I know what to trade for though now, to say the least.
Thank you for the suggestion, it could go either way. When I played a game last night I used Darkstar to set up consistent free action Smokescreen, giving the Leader, herself, Squirrel Girl, and the Renegade the Hindering coverage. I'd like to get my hands on the IW piece..
Shoot me a PM with some of the pieces you may need from the CA/Hulk set that I may have, we'll work something out for that Gem if you'd like. Thank you!

I'm sorry, I totally mis-interpreted which Invisible Woman you had in your original team!?! The SI Starter IW is a decent peice (I love her INVISIBLE SP) but of the TK-ers you have available, I agree that The Leader + Darkstar are better choices than SI IW.
With your extra 20-pts, ICwO is an option, but I may also consider some of the neat feat cards associated w/ Mastermind and/or Outwit. A few of my favorites:
Getaway 4-pts: can help the Mastermind fig stay near fodder
Outsmart 10-pts: can protect multiple fgis from Outwit
Contingency Plan 12-pts: very versatile!!
Thwart 15-pts: great for countering Protected
Dissent 18-pts: great for getting rid of Mystics TA!!
Darkstar could also make good use of Flashbang for 3-pts; being able to move 1/2 your speed before or after use of Smoke Cloud offers a lot of versatility! Only a single-use Feat, but 1 use can often be exactly what is needed!
I think that the best two to use would be Shell head on Black Bolt; Outsmart on The Leader, especially because my playstyle has him near others anyway.
In Contact is my other choice though, but I do like the idea of the other two.
