Trying to work out a good 700 point marvel team with the chase thanos. I'm still not quite understanding the tactical value of his speed power. Why would you want to pull the enemy close to you when you can't immediately run away and attack from a distance? Also who else would be rock solid on this guys team?
You would want to pull people to you to avoid Psychic Blast, Ranged Combat Expert, to break-up Defend, Mastermind, or a S.H.I.E.L.D enhancement team just to name a few. It's pretty useful in the right situations.
"Nearly all men can handle adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."-- Abraham Lincoln
"We buy things we don't need, with money we don't have, to impress people we don't like..."
ummm. Yeah, pulled him yesterday. Already making plans to destroy teams right off the bat. Have beasts like SI Gamora and Iron Fist surrounding Thanos (with space for our new friends). Teleport them in. Destroy them. Win game.
But also, who says you can't immediately run away? I think the primary strategy will be to pull the fig in and blast them with figures like Elsa and Gamora, Psychic Blasters with Enhancement etc... you really should be able to KO your opponents highest point figure almost immediately. Sometimes there two highest point figures. That leaves them with their main attacker ko'd and there secondary facing down your ENTIRE team, while the rest of their team is 20 squares away in the Starting area.
However, that doesn't mean it's the ONLY strategy. You could pull in their two highest point figures, smack them around a little and then carry Thanos away, or have someone like NC drag your opponents figures away. Heck, you could Barrier them in to prevent retaliation. There are a lot of options.

jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.

This, exactly this. The chase Thanos is just another way to facilitate the Kill-Box strategy except it is way more reliable since it doesn't require an attack roll. It's going to be SUPER unfair in high point games as well. Just off the top of my head, here are some of the tactical advantages:
1. You get first strike with your ENTIRE team (less Thanos) against their heavy hitters. If they're running swarm, I think it becomes even better since you can just pick off 2 of their best figures at a time.
2. It separates their two biggest figures from any support they may have. If chase Thanos had been around during IG month 2, there's no way Darkseid would have made the impact that he did for example.
3. Prevents turtling, especially important with gauntlet strategies becoming the norm.
In a 700 point game he isn't quite as bad, but still, my new colossals are going to have nightmares about stuff like:
Thanos 350
HoT Moonstone x 3 228
Gotham City Detective x 3 81
Roulette 35
Yellow Lantern 5
Yeah, we are doing 800pts Galactic Guardians only this week, and I'm trying to figure out how exactly I'm not going to lose half of my team if someone has managed to pull him and plays him. I've come to the conclusion I can't.
I think I'm gonna make 2 teams. One with a few high pointers, and one with figs all in the 100-150 range. That way if I lose a two figs, half my team won't be decimated.
Any other suggestions on beating him in high point games?

One word: Ziran The Tester. Wait, that's 3 words. But you get the point. Their team will fail at least one test and so you give Thanos 2 unavoidable, goodbye strategy.
Also, depending on how the ruling goes if you have only 1 figure (Ziran) they can't use his power anyway.
Another thing is to go with a colossal and a theme team (dormammu mystics is doable, Galactus/Ziran cosmic is doable) and pick a map where they can't use Thanos' power effectively like the Prison Map.
