Nothing specific really. I guess showing up on ad lists, sites getting hacked (a la Playstation Network), unwanted mail, phone calls, etc. I just don't like giving out my info. I am the same way when stores ask me for my postal code, phone number, email, or whatever.

Little sites like hcrelams.com I don't mind so much but with larger sites run by large business interests I would rather not if I don't have to.

FWIW, in 15 years I've never gotten spam mail from Yahoo. Or any telemarketer calls either. Not sure what showing up on ad lists means.

I usually goes like this:

Cashier: "Can I get your phone number or Postal Code."
Me: "Nope."

And then they laugh awkwardly and ring through my item and I go on my way.
