It's good that they're allowed to walk down the prison halls, but bad that they still can't fit in them or the cells...
Spending a couple turns blowing stuff up seems to work best, even if it does allow the opponent a huge positioning advantage.
The Prison map is actually one of the least restrictive maps. You can get a 3x6 into an opposing characters starring area in about 4 turns, this is average for almost all characters.
There is only one map I can see having a remote complaint about and that is the Bizzaro World map. And that is only cause I 3x6 character has no where to go unless you play 1 of 3 figures with him and only one is sure thing.

Good to know. I don't ordinarily play 3x6's or the Prison map, so it's mostly theoretical to me. Although I have been meaning to bust out Doc M again...

If you really want a map that screws colossals, use Jotunheim, Muspelheim, or Krakoa.
I'm not sure exactly how you intend to screw them, but remember that the entire base must occupy special terrain or it has no effect.
I can have 17 of my 3x6's 18 squares sitting in the Nexus, but because Galactus' pinky toe is not in, he can still be given power actions.

The official answer is that for initial placement, your colossal character ignores terrain in the starting area. Once they move, the terrain behaves normally.
From the PG: "If multibase character can’t fit within your starting area due to terrain features (Blocking terrain, changes in elevation, etc), you may extend your starting area so that the character will fit. If extending your starting area will not create the necessary space you may instead place the multibased character in your starting area and treat all squares it occupies as if they were clear terrain of the same elevation as long as the multibased character is not moved or placed into other squares. Once the multibased character no longer occupies those squares, they revert to their original terrain and elevation type."
So there are some things that need to happen first before you can ignore terrain.

So wait, what if I'm on Krakoa and my Thanos has a couple squares, but not all, of his base in hindering, and then this happens:
SHIFTING FOLIAGE. Printed hindering terrain acts as blocking terrain instead until the beginning of your next turn. Characters occupying those squares take 1 unavoidable damage and are placed in the owner’s starting area.

Those aren't orange squares, so he's hosed.
"Special terrain (orange squares) that require a character to occupy the square, require that the entire base must be occupying the terrain."

Good distinction. I like it.
