I would think the attack occurs as though the Opposing character and the Duo Figure are positioned in such a way as to make it legal, even if that is not actually the case as reflected by their board positions.
Thanks for posting the question Chris. I just came looking to see if the questioned had already been answered. The wording of the trait makes me think that HerrBrain is right, but the way you ruled provides the easiest/simplest way to have the trait played in actual game play. Curious to see how it shakes out.

Considering the fact that one of the Rules Deputies had to go ask Game Design how it's supposed to work, I'm wondering how it's going to play out as well.
Good thing you played the figure.

Yup. Hopefully it'll be in the upcoming PG. Harpua's soliciting for it now, so soon-ish? And I hope they they clarify it to allow them to block an attack, rather than errata it to cause them to allow an otherwise illegal attack.

Even if they don't rule it so that he can block attacks by making them illegal, this guy is still a beast and a lot of fun to play. But of they rule it the other way, I am definitely going to have fun playing him until it makes me feel dirty to put him on the map anymore.
