Turning off optional powers or team abilities doesn't require an action so that is still fine.
And from what I've been hearing, a MCed character can still be given free actions for outwitting, perplexing, and picking up a figure it's just that these free actions will not end the MC any more.

Since these updates take effect tomorrow, I was reading through this thread again to make sure I understand them all.
I'm surprised no one brought this up- In the team abilities update they removed the line from the Avengers/Brotherhood abilitiles "Mark any character who moves this way with an action token."
I would think you still would, but when the whole point of the update was to clean up language errors, why would they make this glaring ommission?
sure you do - they just re-worded it to shave space. You're now 'giving' a character a move action that doesn't count towards your allotment, so they certainly get an action.
The old wording was awkward with the character 'performing a move action without using one of your actions for the turn' - hence the need to state outright that you give them a token...
