Now, I don't pretend to think Stingray is going to deal massive amounts of damage in a game. I don't pretend to think that Stingray is a tentpole-killer. And yet...

He is.

I won initiative roll (really?) and deferred to kreisler11, who deferred in turn to william242. He started by bringing in a 30 point Ultron Drone as a free action. Meanwhile, I sat in the corner of the map spinning my Gauntlet... As the turns went by, my swarm of 2 damage was going largely ignored, until I hit #1 + Invuln on the Gauntlet; the fighting between my opponents ceased, and my school of 'rays was the new target. With 1100 points of fury staring me in the face, I took an action with Kingray one last time... and rolled a 6 for the golden glove. Kingray had achieved Ultimate Godhood!

From there, it was clean-up.




I kid, I kid. As I got swarmed, Stingrays were dropping left and right, but not before a 3rd click Stingray had claimed the first KO on the list: Mr. Sinister! Professor (SE)X granting Shape Change to friendly X-Men within 4 squares hampered my efforts to take down the X-Men, so once Storm, who'd been carrying Mr. Sinister around, fell to the stinging fury, I focused on william242's force. Batman had the Crimson Gem; it hardly seemed to matter. Stingrays were dropping left and right; try as they might, however, they couldn't cut through the nest to attack Kingray! Eradicator used HSS to hit some Stingrays; Kingray chose Outwit and the swarm mushed him. By this point, I had ~10 Stingrays left, and about 5 (including Kingray) at full health. As Kingray evacuated, leaving the swarm to fend for itself, Invisible Woman fell to a lone Stingray behind her, tying her up (dat Toughness), as M11 was smacked for 4 by Kingray. A 30 point Ultron Drone followed, but by this point kreisler11 had had enough Stingray killing for the moment and began to take out Batman with Wolverine. M11 was next to fall, quickly followed by a 30 point Iron Man Drone and another 30 point Ultron Drone. A couple turns later, 90 point Ultron herself succumbed, and her last 2 Drones, 1 Iron Man Drone and 1 Ultron Drone fell shortly after. By this point, Batman had been KO'd by Wolverine, who'd been dispatched by the last Ultron Drone. Thus, it was 6 Stingrays vs. full health Professor X. Kingray got to hindering and chose Outwit; the 5 other duplicate Stingrays all took potshots at Professor X. One hit, and as he cleared the next turn, Outwit again, a second Stingray hit, and Kingray finished Professor X off.

This one was fun stuff, a bit more challenging because of the damage reducers. Metropolis was the map, and my opponent went first. Didn't move up. K...

I moved my formation into the corner to turtle. The beginning of the end...

As I spun the Gauntlet, I had to keep moving up Stingrays to keep Wondie and Superboy at bay. As they one-shotted some Stingrays, 3 of them took out Hawkeye. After that, though, I was in trouble... Invuln/Imperv all over the place. Thankfully, a couple of turns later I hit 3 on the Gauntlet... Outwit hurts, man. Outwitted all heavy reducers one by one, and the swarm took out Superboy. Darkseid fell soon after, and Wonder Woman fell to Kingray's HSS.

I saw this team and swore. Not even under my breath; my team relied on Iron Man's Outwit early to deal big damage. Poo for me...

Iron Man and Hulk were called over by Thanos ("Hey guys, you'll love my special crystals...") and were promptly destroyed, but not before Spidey KO'd Warlock and Thanos crit missed off his top click. Donald Blake and Stingray backed the f*** up and left Spidey to die; mistake #1. Mistake #2: death foddering Donald Blake. This left Stingray. Much turtling ensued, and around 30 turns later I'd passed 3 on the Gauntlet 4 times, Thanos had destroyed the Daily Planet trying to hurt Stingray, and he'd hit Stingray to his last click right as he hit 3. Stingray actually survived that for about 15 more turns; then he died. So close...

I agree. Stingray is a force to be reckoned with, especially with the gauntlet. The fact that Thanos turned the Daily Planet into a scrap heap, and yet took over 20 turns to finally kill Kingray is incredible. I will never underestimate Stingray again.

I suggest another challenge. Can the swarms of Stingray beat the might of Hydra? We shall see...

Taking a quick look at kreisler11's team, what do I see? No damage reducer higher than Toughness! Heh...

I won initiative (no, really?) and went first (change to first ROUND immunity, YES ), rolling a 6 on the Gauntlet for Kingray. As I was backed into a corner, Booster Gold began sniping my Stingray legion. Or, I should say, tried to snipe my Stingray legion... 18 defense at range +1 from hindering is not easy to hit with a 9 attack...

As Kingray sped through the golden glove's dial, rolling 5 or 6 repeatedly for turn upon turn, the swarm began to take its toll; Supernova foolishly got within 6 of the army to shoot, miss, and get swarmed. He was down to his last click before he Phased away, leaving the rest of his team open. By "open" I mean "all on the same block of elevated"...

3 Stingrays went on top of the elevated, and 3 lurked at the bottom to take out Booster up close next turn. As one of the deadly rays KO'd Supernova, Booster and Rip ran away to hindering. Booster was on click 3 at this point, and as the Stingrays followed, including Kingray, who was at 2 on the Gauntlet, Booster Gold soon succumbed, despite 2 PCs per turn, thanks to his low defense, but not before taking out a solitary Stingray.

This left Rip Hunter. What a f***ing pain in the pooper...
Rip phased away, but my army followed. As he phased away again, and my army again followed him, he decided to stand and fight. Sadly for him, one of the Stingrays broke through his defenses and hit him to his last click (he'd been weakened prior to that hit, of course), where he stayed for many turns, Perplexing up his defense... until Kingray'd had enough, that is, and all the Stingrays evacuated the area and Kingray used Pulse Wave to finish off Rip Hunter.

The more I play these, the more I love them...

What's this, a balanced team from me this time? Crazy...

I'm not going to lie here, guys: I had chugged about 1.5 liters of Mountain Dew in the hour or so leading up to this match, so I have no idea about the order of the KOs. That said, here you go!

DKR101 moved up first, and was shot to pieces by War Machine. Batgirl took a hit from War Machine, but Singray finished her off. BB Batman was next to fall, this time to a hit from Iron Man. Robin fell after soaking a hit from War Machine, with Blingray dealing the final damage. DKR201 fell to Hulk on his 19 Impervious click with a heavy object, and shortly after IO E Batman fell to a Flurry from Spidey (second one giving a token), a shot from Iron Man, and Dingray's attack at the end. That was game, it couldn't have lasted more than 5 minutes.
