I've been picking up a lot of comics lately and i do like big crossover story lines, so i was wondering if anyone can recommend me any. I'm reading Brightest day right now, only cause I'm trying to learn more about the DC universe. Im really a big marvel fan and have read all the way up to siege.
And anything interesting in the last few years with spider-man? I read spider island and One more day, but that's about it.
You could currently follow the death of Peter Parker and it's lead-up to ASM #700.
I also can't recommend the Batman event "Death of the Family" enough. Another current title and you could just read the main title ("Batman") without missing much. But the peripheral books bring some neat stories to the table. Starting at Batman #13.
If you haven't read the two Annihilation series, those are worth a look. The first one especially. I say if, because you say you've read up to Siege, but then you say you haven't touched X-Men in a while - maybe you skipped the cosmic Marvel stuff too.

Oooh, yeah. Marvel's Cosmic stuff was amazing during that time. Guardians of the Galaxy especially.

It's a bit on the deep end, but it's a great way to get into the DCU (pre nu52 reboot) and read a great modern story. It did tie into the ending of Infinite Crisis as well, but it mainly told its own story.
Of course, you could read the event that popularized the event books we see so often now: Crisis on Infinite Earths. I got more out of re-reading that one as well.
