I like it, it looks fun to play. HSS is a great thing in ST and is few and far between. The Trait has its uses, but with more than half the dial sporting HSS, it seems redundant and possibly a waste of points. I guess it's a backup plan in case you get based early on those RS clix or HSS gets outwitted.
Except with the way the ships special power is worded the adjacent damage happens regardless of if you use the little bonus from it. No ship is cool if it takes damage every time it starts a turn adjacent to an opponent.

or you could just sit and fight and not take the damage. You only take the damage if you give it a move action when adjacent to an enemy. Basically you are taking damage instead of rolling to breakaway. It has its uses, but nothing is forcing you to use it
I like this ship and its trait. The trait is best on the first 2 clicks though because in STT it is almost always better to be at range rather than based...this ship can automatically break away to running shot. This means Fearless can attack the enemy that had based it, another more advantageous enemy, etc, etc, and get its E/SD (and maybe add in hindering! a swing of 3 points to hit it) against a retaliatory strike. (barring charge which is, so far in STT, rare) all for the low low price of "maybe" 1 damage? I'll take that ANY day. pair it with the montgolfier and equinox and 300 pts of "bring it" :)
EDIT: with the PAC 2013 this ship now make full use of it's trait on all 7 of it's clicks. :)
