1- Neil Young- Neil Young writes great songs, and I'm assuming he wrote this one. With a few notable exceptions, I often wish someone else were actually singing them. Not because he does a bad job, but because I think someone else could really make them shine. But the guitar work here is hard to deny. I like it!
2- Runrig- Beautiful!! Could of (and almost was) my number 1.
3- The Thomas Oliver Band- They know how to do the blues! Ranked higher because a pretty good song from beginning to end.
4- Dire Straits- One of the most creative and enjoyable bands of all time. Pretty song, but more enjoyable as background music.
5- The Zombies- One of my absolutely favorite groups, but not one of my favorite songs by them. Good but not great, blues was not the Zombie's strong suit.
6- The Kingston Trio- Great talent, but never has appealed to my musical tastes.
7- Dan Auerbach- This one might require a few more listenings to fully understand. But its nice.
8- Michael English & George Younce- No, not at all. Hate it. My ears now hurt.
1) Neil Young - One of my favorite songs by him.
2) Thomas Oliver Band - Interesting video too.
3) Dan Auerbach - really liked this one!
4) Dire Straits
5)The Kingston Trio
6)The Zombies
7) Runrig
8) Michael English & George Younce
There will at least be one more and probably two more batches of this title. That is, unless interest in participating continues to wane as it seems to be happening. I really shouldn't have to ask if you still want to do this.

1) Dire Straits -- from Mark Knopfler's soundtrack (his first such effort) for "Local Hero," with Michael Brecker on sax. Loved the movie, love this theme for it.
2) Neil Young -- good stuff from one of my all-time favorites.
3) The Kingston Trio -- I started buying records as a kid, when these guys (with Dave Guard as one of the three) were at their peak of popularity, so I remember how big they were back then. Honk if you remember watching "Hootenanny" on TV.
4) Runrig -- excellent!
5) Michael English & George Younce -- I LOVE this kind of stuff!
6) The Zombies -- this has to be the one time and only way that this particular group could fall so far on any rankings by me.
7) Thomas Oliver Band -- O.K.
8) Dan Auerbach -- not bad, just the only slot left.

Agreed. That said...as one who often arrives, uh, fashionably late to the party, I can only offer that it's not due to a lack of interest.
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
Michael English & George Younce - While there was a piano accompanying them, they executed the kinds of close harmonies that make me a huge fan of a capella. And George Younce has a lovely bass voice.
Thomas Oliver Band - Cool. Very cool.
Kingston Trio - I went through my folk phase. I gained an appreciation for these guys
Neil Young - I didn't know this one. Now I'm glad I do.
Dan Auerbach - Nice little acoustic number.
Runrig - pleasantly Celticky, but not anything to write home about
Zombies - they've got a fun late 60s vibe.
Dire Straits - I really liked almost all these songs. I'm ranking this one last, and even this one I don't mind. Against some other competition this might have scored better, but nothing grabbed me about this enough to rank it any higher than this.
Dire Straits - all others I could take or leave....mostly leave
Zombies
Kingston Trio
Thomas Oliver Band
Neil Young
Dan Auerbach
Runrig
Michael English George Younce
May all your hits be crits!

Neil Young takes this one so the final match will be:
Barry Cowsill vs Neil Young vs Rolling Stones vs Jon Allen vs Delta Highway.
I'll put the match up tonight.
