So, since a conversation was had last night at my local tournament, I'd like to get an opinion on the following:

Using the two of these together, would someone legally be able to attack on both a horizontal AND vertical axis, basically creating an L shaped attack in both directions? It does say OR for the path, and if you have multiple s, you could target in two different directions. I thought it defeated the purpose of the UNI portion of the name . . . *shrug*

That's what I thought, usually WK is very careful to always use the term "character".

You won't find me arguing with you, but the concensus last night was that the 'a' was simply a connector between along and straight, and did not dictate a single path, just what type of path it needed to be.

Nope. The power overrides the usual mechanism for targeting.

Where was the "horizontal OR vertical" part in that discussion?

I'm thinking 'Direct Path' is going to be open on the actual direction (as in, see power in question), but will define that characters are targeted/affected by order of distance from character. I'm not curious as to how this will work with elevation, walls, and im looking forward to seeing figures with SP's that either ignore 'Direct Path' attacks, or end it when they reach them, and double line direct paths (hands out, double lines, woot!)

Wording would be key, but this power is something i would like to see a LOT more of (Cyclops eye beam, Human Torch fly-through). Even a one-directional Quake effect for a Hulk Smash would be pretty darn awesome.

Heartbreaker is amazingly full of potential after some excellent rewording (and lack of Figures word.. haha). Especially without the 'unmodified' part. up to 37 potential damage? Too bad he doesn't have that with running shot on the 2nd click ^^

This! The intent is that a blast goes straight from Iron Man thru some guys in a straight line. Does it work that way? If not...well see below.
