35 points gets me a figure than can charge in a do a point of penetrating damage if somebody has a strong reducer, or 40 points gets me an archer that can't match the Elves' range but CAN match their damage and actually out arch them by ignoring elevated terrain...oh, these guys have uses, to be sure. I don't really see these guys as strict replacements to Horde tokens, but a way to beef up an Orc (or even their other keywords, but mostly Orc) force in Epic games so that you don't lose the moment your few Orc commanders die. Because of the token replacement limit, they become more useful the higher the value of the game.

Definitely this. I suppose I would have liked a larger variety of Horde tokens, but it's hard to complain about more ways to get the originals. Without having to pay as much for a SINGLE TOKEN as you would for a real figure (although it's telling that the original LotR ones are significantly more expensive on the secondary market than the ones from Hobbit).

I'll respectfully disagree, what happened in Bosnia and Herzegovina was horrible, these sculpts are just average, nothing mind blowing, nothing sub-par. Which is perfect for what they are. Average sculpts can often times result in a opponent not worrying about a fig, which if you play to that, leads to a win for you!
As previously stated, my opinion of these orcs is subjective. Neverthless horrible is a bit overstated for an initial reaction. To say the least they are still bad imho. From King Obould to Warchief Thrall to the Orcs of Asguard, I've never seen or read about a brown-skinned orc. And the sculpt themselves just look like a badly mishapen human. I'm not looking for a great amount of detail either because a muddy muck covered orc would be no surprise. With one maybe, two colors. But, they could at least depict the usually slouching, hulking form that makes them distinct from humans. Next, I think their dials better represent goblin or skeleton fodder. The orc archer has a cool volley type ability thats really only viable if its adjacent to another archer. All in all, I'm a bit disappointed and think they could have done just a little more. Even if it meant throwing a few more points into their elven counterparts.
