I've been playing HCO for about a week now and I've noticed some patterns on quitting games. Say you're playing a 300 point team and find out your opponent is playing the TK Hooker Bomb. So he/she starts by flying out and laying out 5/6 clicks in the first hit. The game goes on and he/she starts losing figs. Finally the Holy grail has taken damage and he/she might actually lose. He/She quits before the end of the game with no reason or warning given. That was the game I just finished and I'm seeing it more and more often.
I understand if something comes up, like the game takes too long and you've got to get ready for work/school/child's ball game/BATHROOM EMERGENCY. However if you build a Hooker Bomb team and then quit when it doesn't work before the end of the actual game then that's just baloney. I've had to quit a game myself because it took longer than I thought it would and had to go to work. I apologized to the guy and offered a rematch later, but I haven't been able to get a hold of him yet.
All I'm asking of you folks is if you can, stick through to the end of the game. I've been in games where I had one last Skrull warrior against a superman and thanks to the dice I won. It came down to literally the last clix, but it was an exhilarating game! I've also been in games where for natural reasons the game went on too long and someone had to go. If you have to go, at least offer a rematch later so we can finish the game.
For those that don't know, a Hooker Bomb is a reference to an old game mechanic. Multiple con artists with perplex and a sentinel/hulk. Perplex the poop out of it and watch it murder figs. Since the rule of 3, it's been tuned down, but you still see it with teams like this one. Quasar, Scarlet Witch, and CW Wasp.
Always try to leave an internet argument at lvl 1!
More importantly, using the in-game Chat window to communicate is key to establishing a good rapport with fellow players. Ignoring a dialogue and/or failing to respond-- even with a "hello" or "good luck"-- is a bigger problem than quitting, imho.
Also, while we all get frustrated when games take a turn for the worse in our favor, trying to keep a positive attitude is important. This is primarily a game; we wouldn't be playing at all, if having fun wasn't a priority.
It's hard to put up with them, and I'd rather have someone quit than whine the whole time about a figure on my team when I'm rolling multiple Crit misses. And they still win the game because their list was just as nasty as mine. It was their Asgardians vs my Trio of Doom (with the exlusive Superman).
But I don't mind at all the quitters that give you a heads up. I can also understand connections interrupting, as mine have before.

I played against ToD with Asgardians, but lost (twice, on two different occasions). I tried to make the best of the situation, though. I'm up for the task, even when facing daunting odds.
Some players on HCO go through an initial phase of thinking the dice roller is against them/"rigged." As a programmer in a former life , I can assure anyone that the random number generator/seed is as unpredictable as any other that you may run across as part of a server-side script (PHP) or compiled into the program (as a class). Low rolls are simply an immutable aspect of any board game utilizing dice.

I played a 900pt game after going threw the trouble of rushing a team together. The person played the whole blackest night starter set and in the first three turns I closed the gap and started my assault and his next turn he quite the game.
Played the same guy and he quite the game after I started winning again and when I complained a little in general chat he starts getting upset saying the match was dropped.. It said he quit, I point that out then it turns into 'I couldn't move or see anything' then how did he quit? Am I being unreasonable for getting upset at this type of stuff?
I'm by no means a great player and all my teams are flawed but damn I thought sticking it out in a hard to win or hopeless situation was part of the fun of this game. Winning by a landslide is nothing compared to hard fought victory more so when it's from the grips of defeat.
I like talking in game. It nice to know when someone is suffering some issues or just to vent on crap rolls. Usually the chit chat helps make it a better game and it's easy enough to ignore ppl who talk smack or complain about everything. I had one guy (can't remember his name) who asked me not to use PC because he didn't have any. I had 2pieces with PC and even accepted the terms just to make it fun only to have him whip out theme team re-rolls after he kills my PC pieces.. I still won but what the hell was the point of that? Sure I failed to notice he actually had a theme but still that was just totally pointless and unneeded.
Wish they had a game log to see who you have played with from joining with dates and times so I could remember who these annoying people are.
"Know that you stand accused of crimes against the Kree empire.. know that you have been judged and found...GUILTY!"
There is an 'Ignore' feature that I believe does the same trick; I'm not sure if this applies to public matches, but it could affect your participation in official tournaments if you would be paired up with someone you've added to your Ignore list. Personally, I don't see a need to ignore anyone.
The best way to avoid any and all issues, is to: (a) Review the HCO Forum for lists of figures that some players dislike; and (b) Announce that you want to play a game with specific restrictions while in the Lobby, before creating a new match.

It is really only okay to quit in the first 30 seconds if your opponent is playing a cheesy team. I always ask for a casual, usually themed game in lobby and if someone joins with a cheesy team I abort. Yesterday I joined a game against a guy using exclusive Superman and 2 bruce waynes (both on the dial with TK and perplex). So 14AV TK'd forward then charge with 4 damage EW. No thanks.
Chatting with an opponent and having a laugh takes the sting out of a loss but a large number of players are too ignorant to chat im afraid.
I had the same experience today. I was playing The Ravagers Fast Force and my opponent an HoT Enchantress, Mindless One, Nomad, Pyro and 2 nurses. I took out the 2 Nurses and Pyro, had Mindless One and Nomad on there last click. Then all of a sudden the person quit. I don't know it computer failure or what but that very annoying.
