don't waste your time or money until the bugs are fixed (maybe by 2017) it is really just sad.
if they would just fix the dice roller that would at least keep the players that have already spent money on it.
it is super rare to see even 30 players on at any time and there is a very very good reason for this. whats worse is they swear that everything is going according to plan which after playing a few games is obviously not true.
then you have these players that say not to worry about the dice being uneven because they give as good as they get. of course this is a pathetic argument since any game where the dice aren't random is a waste. who wants to win based on bad dice as opposed to the merit of their playing?
save your time money and patients unless you can hang with the 20 or so players who don't mind winning or losing based on bs vs. their ability.

People on here moan about bugs but don't seem to specify what the bugs are. If you mean the dice roller then I have to say I was annoyed at it at first but then I have played games IRL were ive never rolled below a 6 and others that I cant roll above a 6 so this dice people bemoan I have encountered outside of HCO as im sure we all have. People that moan about dice roller don't like that their cheese team hasn't guaranteed them a win because the dice wont let them win like they think they deserve to.
The players who say don't bother with HCO because of the littlest thing must be lucky enough to live in LA or some other US metropolis where you have 15 heroclix venues within 10 minutes of their houses. For those of us not that lucky will stick with HCO as it is good enough for us. I have no reason to quit it as the only quibble I have with the game is with some of the other players, not the game.
well thanks so much for sharing that but it is obvious that the problem is with the dice roller far more than the players. I can't even log on without someone wondering if they will get some sort of compensation for the tournament loss at the hands of these bugs that you are so aloof to. Lets not forget the freezing and lost turns due to interface freeze/crash.
I'm sorry you live in a place that doesn't have venues.
If I make a bad play that is my fault, I accept my loss.
I am so tired of the poor sports that say "oh well if the dice roller is messed up, it gives and takes" because I would rather lose to my own error or actually being outplayed rather than bugged rolls
Obversely I don't ever want an unearned win so please spare me the line about the days when I can't roll below a 7 because those days are bigger wastes than when I can't get a roll. Who wants to win by way of computer glitch? I'm sure those people do exist but i'm not one of them. I wanted live and die in game based on skill and real chance(dice).
My complaint isn't even that the bugs exist. It's that people like you and the Icarus staff want to pretend like everything is fine. Like hair10 pointed out they acknowledge nothing and we don't even know where we stand. I have spent plenty of money on hco and don't expect to be told that it is my poor sportsmanship and not the roller.
I am not the perfect sportsman but I darn sure don't blame my mistakes on a machine. If you have no insight as to what hair and I are talking about than why come in here contradicting. We are merely trying to help protect the game we love by swaying players that haven't invested too much in it to take their time getting to know it, and those that haven't started to not spend their time/money until it is a game that works the way it is supposed to.
Plus like I already pointed out if I were wrong than there would be more than 30 players. The simple fact that a game with this loyal a fan base can barely get 25 people on at the same time is all the proof one should need at this point. Do you think you are the only one who lives in a place of limited venue?

I have heard people say there is some bugs in tournament play but I personally haven't encountered these problems so I don't know if you and hair10 are correct or just exaggerating the problems. I can only go by my own experience. I have been playing HCO since December 2011 and seldom get bugs outside of blue sky screen at the start of some matches.
What is a bugged roll?. Why are you so sure the dice roller is busted?. In real life I have rolled 3 critical hits in a row so why is it so weird to see it on HCO?
There are 3 things that go into winning a match:- team selection, skill and dice rolls. If I am playing a casual match with even teams and even dice rolls, then I usually win 4 times out of 5. I am quite skillful at the game but don't except to, or think that I deserve to win. Bad dice has felled me a good few times but that's life. I would rather be outclassed or beat by bad dice than beaten by cheese.
As for getting refunds after a bug in a sealed tournament, do you give back your pulls when you get your money back?. I always wondered.
All im trying to say is I have gladly plough lots of money into the game because a) Its not gave me any problems that are worth mentioning and b) My nearest venue is 1 hour 45 minutes away and its only competitively played games on offer there.
Bugs are a part of software. Annoying as hell as they are sometimes (seriously Icarus... test something before you put it out there!) you can learn to deal with them often. It's the lack of customer service that drove me out of the game. If you're paying real money and something goes wrong, you should be able to expect to be compensated. But not HCO... you have to jump through several hoops and then you get a refund only if they deem you worthy of one via some invisible and arbitrary criteria.
Thanks, but no thanks. I'll keep my money and not have the frustration of dealing with amateur hour at Icarus Studios.

boobies...Honestly, what else is there to say at this point? While the game's not perfect, it is the only option some of us have to play when we can't make it to real events at the "local" venue. While I would like to see improvements made, it's better than playing clix by mail. I tried that once and I'm never doing it again.
Always try to leave an internet argument at lvl 1!
jtallday: I feel your pain. We've actually played a few games. I'm Jonathan Prime online.
Almost every game I play online is a total blowout. Either I crush them or they crush me. It's almost never like that IRL.
Also IRL, I don't get stuck trying to start a game or spend 20 minutes or more stuck watching someone else's game when I try to start my own. My pieces don't get stuck unable to move, or disappear from the map, or have powers that don't work right.
I played HCO at the beginning, but left for over a year. I come back, & some of the old bugs are still there & they have some "fun" new ones.
They said they would have everything running smooth a year ago. At this rate, 2017 may be optimistic.
Thank you for reading this. It makes me feel important.
The dice are fine. They are just the same as tabletop, except in tabletop you can see the physical dice and cant complain.
I agree...
If you don't have a venue or HC community near your are, HCO is the best there is to play HeroClix.
And speaking in general (sorry if I hit someone with this statement & thank you for accepting that you are like this), some people who feels superior & with cheesy team will really rage if gets beaten & they will look for something to blame. In HCO dice rolls & bugs are the obvious choice...

Sometimes the issues are legit and not an excuse for poor sportsmanship. Nothing like painting everyone with the same broad strokes. Your attempting to "apologize" beforehand doesn't make the statement any less offensive.

Thanks to the promotion last weekend I was able to play 6 or 7 tournaments. None of them were affected by bugs. I did have a bug in a tournament about a month ago and they refunded my CB. In fact looking back at my email and posting history, since June, every time I have reported a bug during a paid tournament, I have received a refund.

HCO keeps improving.
I do believe they continue to improve. With that said, If after all this time they can still be improving than that seems to say that there was/is a lot wrong.
