Defensive Formation Once per game, when Kazejin or an adjacent friendly character is dealt damage from an attack, you may give Kazejin an action token. If you do, that character ignores all damage from the attack.
Absorbing Man has:
URU METAL: When Absorbing Man is dealt damage or healed, roll a d6. Absorbing Man ignores the damage dealt or healed unless it is the same as the result of the d6. This power can't be countered or ignored.
Now, I know a character can only use one damage ignoring or reducing power per attack, but... would that apply here? Absorbing Man would use Uru Metal, while Kazejin (a completely different character) would be using Defensive Formation. Would that work?
In other words, can Kazejin save Absorbing Man from a bad die roll when using Uru Metal?
I don't think so, as it reads to me as if the adjacent character is still using Defensive Formation and the timing on using them seems identical ("is dealt damage") even if that isn't the case.
Waller KOs: AA Robin, Kid Devil, Joker, Question; AW E Cap; FCBD Iron Man; Miracle/Oberon; John Stewart x2, Iron Patriot; Shatterstar; IH Herc; CW Photon & Nitro; FF Nite Owl; 10An R Thor, E Iron Man, Weapon X; FF Kilowog; Hugo Strange; Calender Man; Legion Cosmic Boy & Lightning Lad, LE Pete Wisdom

The rule has changed. A character can use more than one damage ignoring/reducing ability they can just only use one of their damage reducers/ignoring ability.

Can you give me an example of how this would play out?
If multiple game effects would allow a character to reduce or ignore damage dealt, only one game effect can activate, to be decided by the character’s controlling player
Since the rule above does not speak of use or possession but "game effects that allow..." I would say that he only get to benefit from one of those even though one of them are actually used by a different character.

This matters in the case of somebody like TabApp Superman:
Quote
STRENGTH FROM THE YELLOW SUN: Superman can use Super Strength. When he uses an object in an attack and hits, damage dealt is reduced by 1 and after actions resolve, the target is dealt 1 unavoidable damage.
Based on the change to the wording of the reduce/ignore limitation, Superman reduces his damage even when hitting somebody who would reduce it through their own power. It used to be that this power had no downside when hitting anybody with Toughness or better defense.

He only gets to use one, and can't roll for Uru Metal first, then use Kazejin's trait. If Kazejin said "would take damage" instead of "dealt damage" it would be a different story.
When you are dealt damage, you only get to choose one of any ways you can ignore or reduce damage.

I would agree with this. (Missed it the first time.) In the Superman example, both Superman and DefenseMan are reducing the damage. In the case of Kazejin, he's allowing Absorbing Man another opportunity to ignore the damage, so you'd be looking at Absorbing Man having two effects, which would require a choice.
I think.

I would agree with you here. You have to choose. If, however, the first power read "when a character would take damage..." then you could argue for the powers working together one after the other. But the way the powers read, both are activated when the damage is dealt BEFORE it is reduced or ignored.
But hey, I'm not an orange so I could be wrong.
Thank you for reading this. It makes me feel important.

I thought the Superman thing came down to a choice. Like, if a character who had Impervious was hit by Superman, that characters controller had the choice to use the reduction from Superman OR it's Impervious, just not both. Is that not still the case?
Both are game effects that would allow a character to reduce or ignore damage dealt. Are they not?
In the Superman example, no. Superman is reducing the damage dealt, and so is DefenseMan.

In the Abs/Kazejin example, yes. Kazejin is not ignoring the damage on Abs behalf, he is enabling Abs to ignore that damage.

Based on my understanding. I could be wrong.

Apparently the wording was slightly changed to make both SM and whoever he hits reduce damage. :/ Missed that one
PG
"If a character could use multiple game effects that would reduce or ignore damage dealt, only one of its game effect can activate, to be decided by the character‘s controlling player."
This would suggest that since Kazejin is NOT Absorbing Man, Absorbing Man could use Kazejin's power and his own...I hope I'm wrong

That is the wording I was looking for. Couldn't pull it up earlier on my phone.
