The return of the greatest supporting character in comics of all time. Linus Lieberman: MICROCHIP.
He should never have been removed from the series in the first place.
I just reread Countdown and this could go one of two ways.
#1) Frank never checked Micro's body. He just backed away and got out of dodge before Shotgun could do a reload. There could have been Trust agents around to switch bodies before the ambulance arrived.
#2) The Max series is going to be out of continuity, and Ennis just wants to explore a particular type of storyline.
Either way, it's good to see the Microman back in action. I am hopng it's the first option. I also think Micro has learned his lesson, and is going to use Frank to get out from under the Trust (or whoever they may be). The series doesn't neccesarily need to go high tech again, but the friendship between these two was one of the high marks of the first run. It also helped to keep Frank grounded.
Either Ennis is returning Micro to the MU, or he's going to kill him in a panel moment you can't escape from. I'm hoping it's the former, even if he isn't in this run for the long haul. The Marvel editorship of several years ago went on a killing spree that wasted a lot of great characters. The mistaken impression that "death" equals good drama. Good writing equals good drama. I can't believe it would have been Chuck Dixon's personal decision to cap Micro. I may be wrong, but I don't think so.
So welcome back Linus!
Hopefully you won't end up like an extra in a Preacher comic. Here's hoping that whily Ennis guy shows some mercy. LOL!

yeah, agreed. with pretty much everything you said. i mean if you think of it, they never explained how frank got back from being dead in the first place. he was doing that junk for angles and now he's just back. but it is really nice to see Microman back. i really wish the series could get back to the way it was back then. i mean now a days Punisher has been more comedy than drama. hopefully this will be a turn for the better.
I think the stupid stuff with Detective Soap, The Russian, Spacker Dave, and Confederacy of Dunces is over with. I think the Ennis of old is back, and with the new boundaries, is going to give us a hard edged Punisher.
The ignoring of the Angel storylines, was a way of saying "Oops. we shouldn't have gone there." Rather than try to cover it up or make silly excuses, it's just best to let it fade away like a bad dream. It was an interesting setup, but would have been better for an all new character, instead of using Frank.
In issue #2 it seems to me to be even more apparent that Micro needs Frank to get these other bad guys. They definitely have to be bad guys, or they would have stormed Frank's base the moment they confirmed he was there. No government agency would have waited.
Here's hoping for the return of Marvel's "dynamic duo". I loved Micro's speech on the well oiled war machine. Pure magic!
Not totally disenchanted with the last run. Streets of Laredo and Brotherhood were awesome storylines. As were a few others.
It's just all the garbage with Soap was starting to get on my nerves. It was funny for the first couple of story arcs, but then it just became an old knock knock joke.
Only two issues of the new voume so far, but I couldn't be happier.
Well that's not true. Mike Baron could come in out of the cold. He is still the best writer the series ever had. He is also the man who created Microchip to begin with.

agreed and agreed again. i havnt picked up issue two, (its waiting at my local comic shop for me in a nice little box...) but i can't wait. i also agree with the angel thing, it wasn't a bad idea.. for a new character. but leave frank the way he's suppose to be.
