I think that they should at least have the decency of providing a final and up-to-date ruling review on every existing feat, BFC, and event dial.
Stamp the date on it, maybe say "current through Deadpool set" or something before they leave the rulings in the hands of the individual judges.
Still, this is basically Wizkids saying "Feats? BFCs? Event dials? We don't care. We won't use them at any official events that we run, so we won't bother to provide any official standards any more".
And with them not providing official standards, they are nudging people towards not using them at the local level in order to minimize hassles.
Special powers and resources are the new feats, BFCs, and event dials. Rather than someone having to ask me if I would be willing to play the game using the "Fear Itself" event dial, though, they just add the Book of the Skull to their force.
I expect that they will soon decide that they could use what little space is taken up in the rulebook with feats, BFCs, and event dials to talk about something else, or even just to save themselves the little bit of money that printing those words costs them.
And the Inhumans in GotG do not give me much confidence in the future of ATAs.
Rather than give an ATA to the characters in the starter and boosters, they gave the booster figures a common trait that is clearly designed to function like a team ability for them.
I know that Iron Man and Legion had some on the cards, but anything in Deadpool? I don't remember anything, and nothing reported for GotG that I have seen.
But it is what is. Which is: Flat out amazing that a company that doesn't seem to Playtest, alienates the community constantly, has virtually 0 Customer Service and even less of a grasp of the game mechanics they actually produce can sell so amazingly well.
Yep, that.

Just my fancy way of saying before this game is over and done with for good that feats and bfc's will make a comeback.
"The time would be easy to know, for then mankind would have become as the Great Old Ones; free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and reveling in joy. Then the liberated Old Ones would teach them new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves, and all the earth would flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom."

I would really not expect that. The only way that I can see is something like, someone wins the right to make their favorite character and they give him a trait like this:
Feats Are Back: While building your force, you may assign for free one feat to your force with a cost of 25 points or less. You may do so even in Modern Age games and games that don't allow the use of tactics, and regardless of that feat's set symbol.
Heck, I'd be tempted to do something like that, now that I think about it.

Perhaps you should consider a switch from Master Rich to Hot Stuff.

Game Design would almost certainly veto that.

You might just have to beg and say, "But... but... this is the only way to properly simulate the special abilities of..."
(Hmmm. Just a second. I'll think of someone... Oh, I know...)
"... The Mad Mod, who with his retro style can only be properly simulated by making Heroclix into a retro game!"
And then, try to slide some other things in, like, as long as he's on the board, flyers can carry flyers, and characters can be given non-free actions after being carried.
