Ive been playing a lil over 2 months now, and im starting to get the hang of how to play. The hardest thing for me tho, is team building. I have hard time finding proper chemistry with figures, mainly cause i dont know much about comboes. Hell, i barely know the basics lol.
Well, me and my buddies that i play with, have been mostly playing 1 vs 1 matches. Silverage only. Relics are allowed. Not a lot of restrictions , as we all still learning.
So, my dilema is, what kinda team should i build with the pieces i currently have? Tbh, the pieces ive bought, were based off characters i like, and somewhat off what i think are good, not taking chemistry into consideration, until now lol.
My current list:
Thanos #045 (my favorite so far)
Ronan #106
Terraxia #009
Sabretooth #040
Master Chief & Cortana #042
Magneto #053
Dr. Doom #019
Magneto #037b
Legion #038
Apocalypse #059
Lockheed #039
Nebula #016
Book of the Skulls
All Hammers except Skadi's
Granted, its not a large collection yet, but im still growing. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
I rarely play games that big. A couple of general tips for team building can be applied though.
Offensively: Think in terms of total damage output. For example, a colossal that can multi attack on 6 damage would be able to do 11 by itself every turn (until colossal stamina damages it to a lower number anyway). Action utilization matters much less after a few turns (in my experience) in these large games because you have to many actions to actually use with a damaged team. Mobility is still king like in smaller games, but with so many actions to taxi, tk and whatever other powers you have, raw numbers are much more important than normally.
Defensively: With this many actions all kinds of characters can reach you everywhere. Abilities that utilize the terrain to protect you tend to be more effective than simple 19-22 defenses that are pretty easy to hit with that much support on huge attackers (lots of 12+ printed attacks, fairly common to see 13 or 14: support crew usually amounts to about a +6 bonus after re-rolls).
When I do play games that large, I like characters that have massive effects even if they are 1 time only. For example the 003 Aragorn can allow your team to reposition on the turn they clear. This allows you to over extend the team in ways you usually would not because of the retaliation that comes back to pushed figures. Here you can running shot in, get charged, strike in retaliation AND move out with leap climb afterward. If needed, Aragorn can be pushed to move everyone again.
